Cobham Q400's
Just seen on Seek that Cobham are looking for a fleet manager and a training manager for their newly established fleet of Q400's. Is this part of the surveillance contract?

I assumed it was for the surveillance contact but it states "Newly established Q400 fleet" and is Perth based. Sounds too me like Cobham are adding Q400s to there Perth operations be it own charter or contract.
The is now a Fleet Training Manager Position too

Didn't Cobham just get rid of their Embraers citing reliability issues?
It, there was only one, was expensive and they were in financial poo.

Q400 combi would probably provide a bit of bang for the buck for a few OGP clients, not sure if there is an STC available.
Q400 also only requires differences training for type rated Dash 8 pilots - if they can spare any from other contracts?????
Sounds interesting.

The initial Q400s - only 1 or 2 of them - are intended to replace 146s that will get retired as these join the fleet.
Mainly due to Cobham being hesitant to seek a lessor outside of their usual one, thus the lease became too much of a burden for the client in times when they were doing all they could to cut costs (including putting that particular contract up for tender).
Yep, which is why it's only expected to be around for 6 months. Longer only if Cobham can find a client that wants it.
Supposedly the thing is going to operate in basic JetGo livery with the VA interior still installed. Along with their BVI Airways painted RJ and the recently departed Pionair 146 that they chartered, brand recognition doesn't seem to be a priority...
