NZAA runway friction

The rumour is that the runway in Auckland can get slippery.
I operate into Auckland on a regular basis and have noted on our OPT that we can opt out of taking credit for 'grooved runway '.
The runway isn't grooved so I queried someone who knows more than me about these things and he said that it is to be treated as if it is groved because of some sort of runway friction treatment and testing.
Can anyone here shed a bit more light on this process?
What is it treated with? How often? Does that treatment still work in areas where rubber is building up?
Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers,
