The Eagle Has Landed (for the last time)
I had though there would be a thread on here by now about this.
The last scheduled flight operated by Eagle Airways (Air New Zealand Link) touched down in NZHN on Friday night, 26 August 2016.
Fittingly the last sector was from NZPM, the first destination in Eagles fledgling scheduled operation about 47 years ago.
A sad ending for the airline that pioneered regional airline turbo prop operations in New Zealand using the Embraer Bandierante.
No doubt many on here will have started their airline flying at Eagle and will have fond memories of their time there.
Perhaps some on PPRUNE may like to share some memories with the rest of us.
Yes, I know there will be a few who got a knock back from joining Eagle and will have a chip on their shoulder. If you can't contribute something positive please refrain from posting.
It would be nice to have a thread celebrating the good times at Eagle at a time when I expect many Eagle employees don't have much to celebrate.

Was it just financial issues that caused this? Such a long serving organisation that was obviously at one stage very successful. Have they just been run over by the bigger guys, such as the JQ Dash's etc etc.

From what I've heard they were still successful at what they had always been doing, Air New Zealand as the owner no longer saw a need for what Eagle did.
I don't think you could say run over by the bigger guys as Eagle was owned by the biggest guy in town.
