ASU members deliberately targeted for CR by QANTAS

From the CP's blog:

"Over the last few months we have been reviewing and implementing a leaner organisational structure in response to the significant cost challenges that we now face. We are now in final stages of completing a voluntary and compulsory redundancy program for our ASU employees. We have already farewelled a number of our good friends and will continue to see people leave the business over the next few months. I know this has been a difficult time and I want to thank you for your continued hard work and support.
Given the changes, I have attached the current organisation charts.
Some of you will also be aware that I sent a message to our Flight Crew advising that I will consult with AIPA next week on a targeted expression of interest in voluntary redundancy for B767 and B747 Captains and First Officers. This is a direct result of the changes to our network, the retirement of the remaining B767 aircraft in early 2015 and the retirement of six older B747 aircraft by early 2016.
For the past few years, we’ve been able to manage our surplus of Flight Crew through accelerated leave and Leave Without Pay (LWOP) to Jetstar and other airlines. With the accelerated retirement of the B767 and B747 fleets and a reduction in leave balances we will potentially have a pilot surplus on these fleets.
I will continue to update you all on the progress of this program. This forms part of a number of measures being implemented across the business to ensure that we are well placed for the future.
This has been a difficult time for us all; please support each other and contact your manager should you have any questions.
Regards,
Dick "

Accelerated retirement?

The 767 aircraft where planned to retire in 2012.

Thats given them MORE time to deal with the 767 pilot surplus.

The A330's have been replacing the 767's domestically.

The failure of Q management has been the failure of acquiring fuel efficient aircraft to renew the international fleet.

Instead they have diverted the funds for the expansion of JQ & its Asian franchises. Only to see these franchises fail, absorbing the funds from the groups treasury.

Alan is selling the mainline farm to prop up the JQ fantasy.
