Another flag of no real over sight Peru, do you really think that NL would ever subject his operation to rules and regs, just likes to burn people along the way ie OZJET staff , stiffed them for wages, super and annual leave plus the ground support people.
While CASA doesn't grow a pair and stop these people from operating in OZ , only a matter of time before it falls out of the sky !!!!

I think its the national carrier of Peru 11 x B737 pax and combi RPT plus DC8-70 freighters all CAT1 FAA part 121 ?
Same South American Regs (RAPS) rules and regs as LAN Chile and Aerolineas, Most of South America is one region the same as the EU includes Peru/Brazil etc.
I believe the South Americans built the EMB series aircraft that your domestic Virgin operate built under the same RAP and FAA regs ?
A "Yank" friend of mine is on contract flying the 737-300/500s for them says they seem like a normal airline.

Got nothing to hide put it on OZ register at least the oversight is here and regular Flt/Ops and engineering audits not like the oversight of this operation on the other side of the world, have the Peruvian regulators been in OZ and had a look at their operation or at least had a look at the aircraft and maintenance?

You obviously have reason to make those statements, but...

Peru demonstrated effective implementation and above-average implementation for legislation, organisation. licensing, operations airworthiness and accident investigation in its last USOAP Audit in 2007.

Air navigation services and aerodromes were slightly below the global average though.

All the same, Peru actually scored better at implementation of licensing, operations and airworthiness than Australia did.

Missed the point about NL and how he operates and how he has been for years burning people along the way!

BPB737,
Nobody in their right mind puts an aircraft on the Australian register, if they can possibly avoid it. Strangely enough, sensible people do not believe there is any necessity or moral obligation to voluntarily subject themselves to equality of misery under CASA.

Strangely enough, Peru is a solidly FAA Cat. 1 nations, and unlike Australia, has not been threatened with downgrading to Cat. 2 because of an inept national regulator like CASA.

Tootle pip!!

Not interested in taking sides in a slanging match here, but all I can say is that it appears to be in excellent condition. Having seen quite a number of aircraft of South American origin, I can vouch for their high standard of maintenance.

Particularly if it's coming to the end of its useful life and is a first of type on the register.

I give up,
Sure Peru has such an outstanding record for aviation safety if you don't count the RPT jet accidents.
As far as CASA goes, they can be at times difficult but I will take our system anyday ,Don't really remember an RPT jet crash in OZ.

Wonder who the F/O co-owner of VH-EDC was?
ATSB Investigation report 9401043

I think you mean Investigation number: 199401043, although I fail to see the connection between that event and the current topic?

Being operated by an Australian company, based some 7,000 miles away from the country of registration must allow for great regulatory oversight!!

Seems the Wikipedia article re HeavyLift Cargo needs to be updated:

HeavyLift Cargo Airlines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A feature of the airline is that most of its aircraft are not registered in Australia, but in the Philippines

Not posting names here, but you should find the answer in this Youtube video around the 2:53 minute mark.

In reference to the actual post subject the mountains and altitude conditions and terrain in South America are MUCH MUCH more demanding than the sunny skies and flat land of Australia there are many more flights and people.

Many US carriers have also been lost in Sth America Kalitta B747 F out of Bogotá hot/high engine out middle of the night and American Airlines B757 into Columbia.

Can't find a Heavylift Cargo Airlines or web etc the wiki must be out dated, the group shows liquidated many years back.

Hiding under the desk now incoming......
