China eastern withdraws service pvg/cns
Cairns residents were stunned today that flight service from Shanghai on China Eastern, which began less than a year ago, is being "suspended" for review.

Loads are reported to have been strong. There are reports that this may be related to a growing dispute between China Eastern and Qantas, their partners in the stalled Jetstar Hongkong venture.

I heard/read this too and cant understand the outcry over it. It was ALWAYS going to be a trial seasonal service as stipulated by China Eastern at the beginning of the service. That was widely announced in the media in Cairns at the time of the launch. The words trial and seasonal mean it may return, and they are due back later in the year. China Southern on the other hand did make a quiet exit from Cairns but again that was a trial and I haven't heard anything about their return. Have heard today that Jetstar have again reduced the CNS-DRW-SIN route to twice a week. Does anyone know if this service will be reinstated to daily anytime soon?
Sounds familiar to Emirates pulling their 3rd daily Sydney two years ago.
The Irish QF CEO was squealing with delight saying EK were winding back their Australian reach. Couldn't hack it!
Shortage of frames to service the then expanding US destinations requirements was the real reason.
The same flight is back and on the A380.
