QF Dom to take over MOV

I heard today that QF Domestic will soon be taking over the BNE-MOV route.

Obviously it would reduce the huge number of return flights, but could the 737 even turn at the nodes??

1500m is also quite short for the 737, no?

I think you're referring to a new 737 named 'Moranbah'

Won't get a 737 out with any viable payload. Q400 struggles to get out full when the temps are up.

There was talk of a 300 m extension to the runway, but all has gone quiet since.

Oh OK, interesting. Yeah I saw the new 737 was named 'Moranbah'... Made me look twice. Could also be the reason behind the rumour but always worth checking up! Cheers

Yep, there was an internal communications grab with a headline of:

"B737-800s Moranbah and Pine Creek Join Qantas Fleet"

I guess if you glanced over it quickly (as most of us do!) it'd be easy enough to come to that conclusion

If one did come to such a conclusion, a 737 landing across the Stuart Highway on final for the 700-odd metre gravel strip at Pine Creek would be a sight to see! Besides, I dunno about the rationale of such a business decision, I would be surprised if the entire population of Pine Creek would even fill an 800!

Must be getting hard up for Aussie names. Just about used them all. Have to start using Irish names soon.

"Blarney" ,"Inagh Bog" would be suitable.
