HBA = IATA Hobart.

Hervey Bay IATA = HVB.

717 from BNE perhaps?

Another Q400 heads to MEL from Oct. CBR-ADL apparently to help rotate the ADL-based Q400 through maintenance.

Hmmm I don't think QF management are capable of giving mainline's routes away to their subsidaries are they?

Geez if true the fat cats in Hobart won't be happy being down graded into a Q400... It was mooted a couple of years ago that HBA would get the Q400 just after LST commenced ops. Qlink even sent the engineers down to HBA to do fuel panel training with the refuellers.

With that said there were some phone calls to the Launceston Jetstar Engineer from Qlink last year asking the question if any 717 GSE still remained as they were looking into running the 717 again into LST.

Could QF run a CBR-HBA Q400 service to compete with VA?
They not opened a new route for a while. ADL-NTL and ADL-HBA would they work with Q400s as well?

No change of equipment loaded in QF GDS as yet.

There is no "ewww" factor for our clients when it comes to the Q300/400 beasties.

The Q400 in particular is particularly slippery and comfortable and you don't wind up like a half shut pocketknife in the seats.

Still showing 738s as the aeroplane of choice.

Best all

Paxed in the Q400 a number of times, it shakes and vibrates like an old Valiant on cross ply tyres.

Much prefer to ride in the lovely Brazilian ladies over at fair maiden airlines.

But nothing beats the good old F-28!!!

Obviously you've never walked past the NAV1 station of a Draggie then and just for fun put your half-full coffee cup on the poor nav's desk to observe the fascinating standing wave patterns that emerge. Any more than half full and all the navlogs would get wet.

Paxed many a time between Melbourne and Adelaide on the Q400. Without fail every single flight I hear passengers complain to the staff at the gate, "that's not taking us to Melbourne is it"!? Even had a family friend swear never to fly Qantas again after the shock of seeing a plane with props flying them on their holiday to Melbs! Apparently it's ok to port Lincoln but not the big smoke!

If its all true, even with 717's it's aparante that a regular service may be replaced by a cheaper crew/ lower cost basis.

Might be a continuation of a trend this time with Cobham aircraft to keep a Kangaroo on the tail.

Why don't Q just bit the bullet rebrand Jetstar and be done with it. An amputation with a axe is better than slowly cutting with a pen knife.
