Ushuaia,

Half the runways I operate into don't have "outer markers".

"G/S check height blah blah blah."

"Checked"

Riiiight..... And your point is? OM call was just an e x a m p l e. A non-exclusive example. So the other half of the runways you operate into are situated at SYD and MEL, I assume? You know, airports that DO have OM's? I've never calculated the percentage of one vs the other. Maybe it is 50-50? All I know is I use both.

I knew I shouldn't get back on PPrune.... or dare risk a little tongue-in-cheek wit! I thought this discussion was about the use of iPads on the flight-deck, not whether a call is OM height checked or DME height checked!

Some of us LAME's have been doing a course the past 2 days preparing us for when the IPAD replaces all of the paperwork we have to do. The current rumour is that some LAME's will be receiving the IPAD and the Iphone (thats what we were told on the course).
There is also talk of installing a battery recharger for the ipad in the cockpit too (dont think the ipad will have enough battery power to last a Sydney to Dallas flight).

And, unfortunately, the IPAD can only be used for work purposes only, can't play Angry Birds in our lunch breaks

Lightbulb

If we get a world wide adaptor there is already a US power socket on the Boeing fleets on the flight deck. On the 767 its under the C/B panel behind the F/O. Have no idea what's on the airbus.

You're very cheeky Rob.
