THIS WEEK IN OZ 12 JUNE

This week in OZ took on a distinctively celluloid theme where one began to feel we had joined the cast and crew with Bill Murray in small town America and were enjoined with 'Ground Hog Day' but not to be outdone, St Alan's mob rolled out there version of 'Back to the Future' complete with converted time travelling boeing gizmos. The repeats of Badgery's Creek were quietly dropped from TV and much was made of the auguries for things outside of our sunny shores, particularly the continuing problem of who has got the loot from the great heist of years past. It is amazing how the banks keep pretending they have lots of this loot kept safe and sound but actually need more of the punters crackers to help them survive as the loot keeps evaporating for some strange reason. The return of the bulk carrier index to the worst of some years back does not augur well for life aeronautical, that index along with a lot of others, well actually most of them except Surfer Wayne's bollocks meter all headed south into deep freeze territory.

As we revisit life from the 70's, the red roo is to return to being Australian and the pond jumpers to being Australia's Overseas Airline, the Virgin dancing has led to offers from rich arabian sultans. Mine Management 101 continues to be required reading for all aspiring Qantas execs and shares in the roo returned to the bargain table with bright orange signs indicating the level of the mark down. Leigh Spiffy continues to intone that St Alan came to Oz for neither the booze or the boys anyway he was a member of the proctocti sect renowned for self less service in hair shirts. More news abounded of mysterious suitors for the Roo. In the real world more punters joined the search for the new economy even the humble writer had his own tussle with such an offer last week and an IR renewal wasn't the required disposal tool but some survey dreamed up by the smurfs. Albo again did us all a favour and said nothing and better still touched nothing, so everything sort of keeps working even defective donkeys. Nobody noted in the brouhaha over spotty singaporean B777's or finely decorated chinoise airbuses that anybody who had a flying bulk carrier was dumping capacity into the OZ market, the import of this of course sailed right over the heads of the Circus Members in the place of lost circles. Mr Wu of the People's we own everything aeronautical company was seen beaming at recent appearances but some retired PLA general gave Shiney Smithy from WA the once around the block about dirty marines in the top end. Time to flick the seat belt switch and tighten the harness, lot of red and purple about and in southern Victorian and Western Australian climes very real recently.

In Europe, flying PIGS continued to amaze and it has been a long time since any punters have seen barrage balloons like these being flown. Seems the Spaniards have been telling fibs as well. Big Arse has lost the french cozzie as a dancing party but is otherwise preoccupied with the rumblings of home grown burghers. Otherwise all and sundry from the Girrard to the Big O continued to demonstrate they don't have a clue about anything and bollocks abounded. Interesting that Betty's fly-by had a Dac in the lead with two King Airs as wing formation then the Lanc, spits and hurricane in group two and last in sterling form the red white and blue smokin hawks. Still a good show in low crud and rain, holding south of the Thames must have been a bugger.

So that's it for this week in OZ, much like a rehashed version of CountDown, lots of bollocks but alas no Molly. Til next week.

Brilliant post grid pipe.

So much intellect there under the veil of comedy - well done.

I really like your references to the big picture. Not many people seem to understand the big picture here.

The Reagan administration launched an "economic war" on the Soviet Union by manipulating the price of crude oil down to next to nicks. As The Soviets biggest export, it sent the country broke. It was amazing successful, so would say THE factor in winning the cold War.

No we have China with the largest standing army refurbishing an aircraft carrier and starting to build new ones and there other communist geographic partner North Korea doing God knows what.

Best we send them them broke by applying the old policy in reverse. Make everything they need crazy prices. If you think the commodity boom is based on fundamental "supply and demand" economics - its not!!!!

Damm Chinese got "smarter" than the US and bought up US dollars. They were even potentially going to buy stakes in American Banks. Enter the GFC, best the banks be "bailed out and therefore owned" by the government for the people.

Wouldn't it be nice if other important assets were owned if Qantas was owned "by the people for the people". Little bit harder to engineer this in Australia. Would be nice if AIG or Blackrock took a large stake in it in the meantime.

Is there any element of Truth in any of this???? QF was founded by military men, it helped out in the second world war, remember those Catalina's? It even has a retired General on the Board.

Two other board members also serve on the RIO and BHP board and would be aware of the mining fundamentals vs public mantra I suspect although Im not suggesting they are. There would be "plausible deniability" in any case.

Morale of the story for most people on here. Go fishing, play golf, take up a hobby, don't pull your hair out that you think you can see QF management doing such an appalling job destroying the company.

Leave the "big stuff" to the people that deal with "big stuff" and sleep easy knowing you will be looked after in THE LONG TERM.

Welcome to the 21st century. False flag operations, economic warfare as I said in a previous post - Its a jungle out there
