THIS WEEK IN OZ 5 MARCH

Television this week in Oz has been simply amazing. The performances by all involved have been fascinating thespian efforts. Although Meryl Streep won the Oscar for best actress in the real Oscars, the award should have been given to the Girrard for the wonderful show starring herself as the Don Capo of the Labur family in Labour’s version of the Sopranos, it was beamed to a world wid eaudience. This week had the Don (Girrard) dealing with unruly competing clansfrom left and right, a minor Capo knicknamed Slippery Kev had his kneecaps doneover but has been kept on in the family business. Shorty remains on as the reliable but shifty collector for a minor set of thugs from the South. Not to be outdone the Bibby quit the Sopranos suddenly to do another slot in Home and Away. Audiences were kept in suspense as to whether or not the former lead in the Sopranos, that Grand Old Capo from NSW, Don Car would beinvolved in the series and to which show would it be that when he re-joined the much loved family series on TV every night again. By the end of the week audiences could understand none of it except to think that this was the worst acting they had ever seen, just awful, couldn't the commercial stations do better. Everyone was saved by the beginning of the footy season and a wash out in Victoria gave St Kilda the only points they will probably get all year. Persons aeronautical recognised all good things were connected with Essendon and continue to barrack for the team.

The Transport Supremo, and chief clown, Albo had audiences riveted with his impersonation of silent great Charlie Chaplins' weepy scenes with sound but alas no mascara, all that practicing the West Wing scripts by Albo has paid off and he also paid due respects to the success of the New Sopranos family show and delivered a soliloquoyon his love for another.

Over the next couple of days Albo realising the crowd needed a diversion and persons aeronautical were probably in a different time zone and in key viewing times and who cared they loved reruns anyway, went ahead and had Australian viewers riveted with his decision to do an ozzzie revival of the rendition of the long gone TV show Bonanza, the Australian Classic Period Piece, ‘Badgerys Creek’. Viewers like you and me were completely confused as to why anyone would be again interested in the story of competing rich landowners and their stupid sons and the struggle of the good citizenry about modern life and aviation. A few of the hapless scriptwriters from the writing group The Commonwealth were made available, as Albo outlined the new show which is to be screened repeatedly for several years to audiences in NSW.

Anyway for us viewers, especially those interested inmatters of an aeronautical bent, life in the new economy stayed about the same, most of began to wonder whether or not we were somehow participants in a live version of Ground Hog day ourselves.

No change to the fuel exhaustion date for the EuroAirbus over Greece. There is a new show running in the US called the Primaries and something called the Oligarchs, with the lead a Russian actor of some renown The Vlad, won all the audience ratings in the USSR. Not sure what the boys stuck in the tribal hills north of the Khyber think of the shows being put up in the messes of an evening but we do know for programming reasons they are stuck with an edited version of Apocalypse Now.

Oh yes, Lest We Forget, apparently, with the fuel boys Shell and Caltex deciding to close their shops in NSW next year and possible one other somewhere else, old and clapped being given as the reason, it seems life for the refueller in Townsville and those consumers of the magical A1, is going to become a bit more interesting, no jet fuel being produced at all here in Oz, once again the smart money is on bulk carriers particularly those that carry liquids. So the Singapore State Owned TV channel is the broadcaster to watch for the time being. Mr Wu is preoccupied with Chinese Oscars and was not available for comment on anything aeronautical with an Asian theme. No news on any further pilgrimages by St. Alan to holy Asian shrines.

Anyway until next time, I am turning off the TVs and going to read a good book instead, it’s all bollocks anyway.

Grip, I don't know whether you are a pilot or gingerbeer, but you should be neither be pushing a bit of tin around the sky, nor fixing it. Marvelous mate, and I second Pinky, Mods, this is great stuff, and for the boys and girls out there going around each day, God only knows they need something to cheer them up. Let em have some fun, its only a time before some media outlet pick up Grip and then he will be gone. He belongs in the CBR press gallery.
