Emirates NO LIGHTS!

So I was inbound to Tullamarine last night from CB in the wee hours when I hear on centre an Emirates aircraft call up after departure with their first contact with centre and also "can you please tell the tower I think we just took off with the lights off on RWY16"...

I landed 15 mins later and the lights were OFF on RWY16?? Anyone?

Can't imagine the tower would clear someone for takeoff knowing the lights were off.

However if the allegation is true, I wonder if CASA will prosecute like they did to the QF boys in LST?

Devil Which lights....

Are we assuming that the EK crew meant runway lights? Perhaps they meant their own aircraft lights

The old saying about ASSUME seems like it could apply here

You landed with the lights off? That's far better than a take off with lights off!

We landed 27 (clearly!). The m23 lights wont quite cut a landing with the RWY lights off!
