Qantas corporate strategy. What gives?

Qantas does the 787 shuffle with Boeing Dreamliner - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller
“The A380 has been spectacular in its customer appeal, and if the 787 lives us to its promise it should do exactly the same. It could be one of these planes that stands out in customers’ minds, and people always want to fly the latest plane anyway, so (the 787) could become the plane of choice.”
So lets cancel, I mean defer, the remaining 380s and chop a few more routes where the QF380s would have had an advantage of their immediate competitors in BKK and HKG.

And give the first 787s to Jetstar, the rest to the overseas premium airline rather than improving the Qantas brand now...

These are the two main problems.

If they are truly aimed at growing mainline intl, you'd think the 787's would replace the 767's and by the time the global economy turns around the other 380's would arrive.

But no, give the first 15 787's to the cancer and defer more 380's just at the time the 744's need replacing and everyone starts flying again.

Talk about closing the gate after the horse has bolted, ran and won the Melbourne Cup, had a baby horse, it won the Cup and they were both turned into dog food

Strategy is simple.....just keep shuffling the cards to maximise personal bonuses and then leave before the consequences come home to roost.

Saw Olivia on TV today talking about unreasonable wage demands, so why doesn't anyone ask her what she got in the last 12 months and see how it all stacks up?

Strategy? What Strategy?

There is no one at Qantas that has enough experience to run an international airline. The memory has all gone. The place is hollow. There is no one in mangement or on the board that has an emotional connection to what Qantas is and what Qantas means. Its more than an airline. Its more than dollars and yields to its 30000 employees.Clifford doesn't get it.Joyce doesn't get it.He's not even Australian .
I fear that Qantas will eventually disappear killed by emotional disconnect and a failure to understand Australian Aviation by the muppets who are failing dysmally in their attempt to run the place
