QF18 DLW-BNE into Tahiti ??

Rumours are that OPS are trying to get a crew together at short notice.

PAX to AKL then PAX on Air Tahiti to Tahiti to pick up the QF18 that has again not quite made BNE........

Conversations recently with a senior US ground staff member confirm that the whole DFW operation is a disaster.

They alsp confirmed that the loads into and out of SFO were full for the last two months prior to QF's withdrawal......

Julie Berry [shorthaul NZ CC manager ?] has made statements to the effect that the QF's AKL cabin crew will be wearing Orange soon.

Their contract renewal negotiations that are 18 months and counting seem to hinge on a clause stating that the QF's AKL based crew are to enjoy the same hotel standards as Australian based QF crew.

Why not agree given this is the status quo unless major changes are afoot.......?

Orange uniforms, minimum slips and motel 7 type accommodation for Jetstar international's [soon to be] start up crew ??

Finally conversations that a "friend of mine" had recently with a QF Platinum FF confirmed his disgust with the whole SFO debacle.

He is in IT and travels to silicon valley multiple times a year.

Twelve of his colleagues are equally pissed off and have jumped ship to United who happen to be honouring their QF FF status as an inducement.

Jetstar into Oakland international via AKL flying A332s by the end of the year??

Oh and that FF.

He hates jestar.[sic]

Don't buy the rumour.

If this is a short notice last minute diversion, by the time a crew fly to Tahiti, have compulsory rest and then fly home it would be quicker to use the crew that flew it in to Tahiti in the first place!!( after their rest period ).

QF18 has been planned from EZE to SYD via PPT. You can read about it on qantas.com's flight information! It will drop in there early Monday morning so now is a good time to send a crew over.

Volcanic ash may have cleared Australia's airspace, but not all airspace!

Ah, those were the days.

Don't suppose you'll be at the Beachcomber

Let's see if I can remember how it went.

Bright fruity cocktail with an umbrella served by the grumpy tranny in the bar after arrival [in uniform of course.]

Pitch black silence broken only by the roar of the Combi taking off not to be seen again for 5 days.

If you get time nip over to the Island of Moorea. Only 17 km's away and its a good drive around it.

Do you need anyone to carry your bag?

edited as I've just checked the distance on Google Earth!!
