Jetstar Recruitment Ban
Heard on the rumour mill that Jetstar pilots have instigated a recruitment ban on any new hires accepting the Part-Time contract being offered.
Apparently most who have been offered the contract have friends in Jetstar, and have been advised not to accept it, so it is pleasing to see some pilots have some morals.
Apparently they are warning any Jetstar wannabe's that they will be blacklisted if they accept the new part time contract.
There is no excuse to accept the contract whilst the recruitment ban is in force.
Accept it at your own professional peril.

I have heard the same.
400 pilots emailed the CEO and CP about this contract. All would not be happy to fly with someone on it.

Jetstar wannabe....... maybe I would have said that before this garbage started spewing out of the mouth of Jet* HR/Management.
I was never offered the "contract" but will be saying thanks but no thanks if it has the hide to turn up at my door.

There is support on the outside for you.
Hey as a suggestion if you could get a handful of letter templates to send to local MP's, Nick X etc etc and other officials then that will help us non-letter writing peoples to join the "education" and awareness of MP's and the like??

Just had it confirmed from a well placed source this morning.The Jetstar Recruitment Ban is in force.For those who are confused, or want to use being naive as an excuse after they join Jetstar, here it is in simple terms:-The Jetstar pilots have initiated a Recruitment Ban on ANY pilot joining Jetstar on any contract outside of the 2008 Pilots Agreement negotiated for a 5 year term until 2013. This applies from the 18th May 2011. Those who accept a contract will be blacklisted, and will find their careers going down the toilet very quickly.The Jetstar pilots want you to be a successful pilot in Jetstar, but not on any of the third world contracts they are currently offering. If you join Jetstar it must be on the EBA. The pilots are currently fighting their hardest to ensure this can happen, and to stop Jetstar management from destroying the company, and possibly the industry in Australia. Accepting a contract is a slap in the face of every Jetstar pilot, and will be met with reprisal.Stand up for yourself, and tell Jetstar you will not accept a contract. You want a long term career, not to have your work/family life completely controlled by imbeciles who have no ethics and no morals. The pilots who are on the EBA know how hard it is to have a life in Jetstar, let alone without those protections built into the agreement.So if you know anyone considering accepting a contract, please refer them to this site, and explain to them they will be comitting professional suicide if they accept a contract whilst there is a recruitment ban in place. There is so much anger in Jetstar at the moment. Newcomers do not want to be on the end of that for their whole career.The Jetstar pilots are trying to look after their EBA, and to look after new pilots who want to join. Help them to do this.

In the interests of "full disclosure". Are these "those protections built into the agreement" of which you speak?
2008 Jetstar pilots agreement.
21. SENIORITY
21.1 Jetstar will publish from time to time a seniority list of all pilots in Jetstar’s permanent employment.
21.8 Subject to clauses 19.2 and 21.9, seniority of permanent pilots as indicated on the seniority list will be a major consideration of the Company on all matters concerning allocation of employment opportunities as they become available,
including:
(a) Equipment assignments;
(b) Promotions;
(c) Retention or demotion in case of reduction of establishment;
(d) Postings, temporary and permanent transfer;
(e) Preference of allocation of annual leave.
12.2 A Pilot’s Home Base
12.2.1 A pilot’s home base on commencement with Jetstar will be nominated in Jetstar’s offer of employment letter.
12.2.2 Pilots will be required to work in any of Jetstar’s operations and subject to the terms of this Agreement may be required to transfer their home base on either a temporary or permanent basis, to any other base in the Jetstar network, after consultation with the pilot on the terms and conditions that will apply to the transfer.

Why does this need to be organised through the JPC or AIPA? It would appear that pilots are seizing control of their futures in spontaneous bottom up process. Bravo.
