Networks Fokker 100's!!
I heard FNP getting around this week as well - non-RVSM..super stuff that.
Skywest bears a lot of similarities to the rest of WA...about 20 or 30 years behind the rest of the country!

I was speaking to a friend tonight and was told all bras crew have had their network careers put on hold! No F100 f/o promotions from the bras fleet for a minimum of six months, and if ANY crew leave that will blow out to who knows how long... Nice one Network management, you have just written 50% of your bras crews resignation letters! What a joke
Glad to be working for the competition

network are taking turboprop drivers from skippers and putting them on the f100 instead of upgrading internally, what a joke.
Also heard that they are putting direct entry f100 guys on higher terms and conditions than current f100 drivers (got rid of the stand down clause and higher pay, but have to sign a confidentiality agreement.)
I bet company moral is at an all time high...
heard there is a few braz guys going to virgin and alliance... that would be interesting for the braz guys if more than 1 leaves... stuck there for life! start sendin out those resumes.
Whats the f100 fo/capt pay compared to everyone else at the airport?

I hear from the refueller that at least two Cobham pilots are heading across to Network.
There is a story around that this is because the OM requires 500 multi crew command hours for the PIC, so Bras FOs are not suitable and putting them in the right seat of the F100 also will not help them get an upgrade, therefore the only other option is external candidates. Do the "turboprop drivers from Skippers" have 500 multi crew command? If so then there is your answer.

Wait up, they are putting people in on higher terms and conditions? That's not very airline of them.

Devils advocate :
How does moving drivers from the braz to the dirty Fokker benefit the company? Let's say a captain moves from the Braz.
He/she will need to be trained on the jet = time and money.
His/her replacement would likely be an existing FO upgrading = time and money.
The replacement would also need to be replaced, a new Braz FO = time and money.
Or
Employ a direct entry onto the jet, much easier and cost effective.
Sure some may leave but the company would likely prefer the risk over the above scenario. Morale is damaged but can anyone truthfully say they have worked where morale was important to the company? These things cannot be put into a spreadsheet.
That is the reality folks, it sucks for us but generally the goals of business do not align with those of the employees.

travelator, you hit the nail on the head there... company doesnt care about the pilots, just needs the pilots to stay there any not too many to leave - keep feeding them the carrot.
the braz guys were promised the f100 positions if they stayed. The network pilots dont have a seniority list or any protection in their EBA. Got to feel for them them tho.
When its better to work for the competitor to get an upgrade within the company, rather than the company itself, its a sad day.
