My sentiments as well, I wouldn't be risking my retirement funds fighting a court case that could go on for years and be seriously expensive in the event of losing.
Some of those guys have had wide-body commands for 25 years, something unavailable to the present generation of pilots.

As one who had to 'let go' with far less money in super than these guys, I concur - let go. When you signed up you knew what the expected retirement age was. In fact it was probably 55 back then, so going to 60 would have been a bonus. Yair yair, age discrimination and all that, but law should not be retrospective; otherwise we would have to charge the hangman with multiple murder.
Once you do let go, a whole new world opens up. Plenty of part-time work if you want it. Plenty of time to play with the toys. If you have the health to enjoy it, what more can one wish for?

Look at the names of the pilots involved. They're pretty much good loyal servants of the company. One is a former management pilot and they're invoking the case of another very senior former management pilot.
Their gripe is that Air NZ knew about the easing of the age restrictions coming up but did not disclose that knowledge to them when they made decisions which would have been different had they had that knowledge themselves.
This is about company perfidy and they not only s
t on good loyal servants but two long serving management pilots as well!
That's the lesson here; if Air NZ choose to st on you they will no matter who you are or what you've done. If they haven't st on you in the past they're gonna to, make no mistake! Longevity pay is just around the corner

Boocs, believe me you wont. Your plumbing is shot, so is your undercarriage, Viagra is on the shopping list along with the panadol, (for the arthritis) your grandchilden have to fix your computer for you, and your own kids think you are a idiot, and should be humored, and I'm only 73! Other than that, the good side is you can sit in your tinny at Curumbin and watch the aircraft takeoff and land, and think tough titties, you blokes can work your ar%ses off now! PS, where do you pick up the moula for being demoted? I went from senior check captain (TAA) after 89, to the oldest S/O in the world! They should complain.

Teresa Green you had the right attitude, particularly in those dark days after 89. I feel the companyAir NZ will stretch this out, more than likely loose, then put them back on but won't let them fly. Or settle out of court.
Personally I would just let it go. But that,s my opinion.

I took the opposite route having decided to retire from long haul flying at age 57. Sure I did a bit of contract flying and some simulator instructing for a couple of years just to ease into retirement mode, but can highly recommend it.
Having said that, I wish these guys well with their claim.
When I read some of the posts on this site about how company's are treating their pilots these days, I figure it's about time some of them had a win.
Other than that, I am like Teresa Green. When I hear the occasional drone of jet engines passing overhead late at night I snuggle up to my wife and think, "Go for it guys".
