Jobs for local Dash 8 crews? Or will Qlink bring in people from the East coast?

Some good opportunities for locals if they recruit here.....

Geraldton would have to be a fairly safe bet for one port. The other coastal ports are locked in.

Full competition is permitted on deregulated routes. From 28 February 2011, there will be a total of eleven deregulated RPT routes in Western Australia that connect Perth with Broome, Busselton, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Kambalda, Karratha, Kununurra, Paraburdoo, Port Hedland, Newman and Ravensthorpe.

Sled

The EOI's, are they short term 6 months to a year, or is it a permanant position, thatis are those 400's over to Perth to stay long term?

I heard a couple of dash 400 to fill in at Network for a short time until arrival of jets.

QantasLink (Eastern) pilots will be permanently based there. Pilots will be initially drawn from SYD/MEL/MQL bases and then any remaining positions will be filled with new applicants.

As I understand it, not a fill in for Network... nothing to do with them. Will just be a new Eastern base. 2 to 3 Q400s going to PH to stay. Will be ferried across via ADL once weekly to spread the fleet around.

Doesn't Eastern only operate Dash 8 -200s and Q300s?

If they are using Q400s, then would these come from the Sunstate fleet?

Regards,
David

400's are on the Sunnies AOC, but still operated by both companies, seeing as we're all a happy family and all!

Not sure how they are going to fill their 400s with command, i have a feeling they will be struggling with the ones in Sydney unless they lower their experience. And then the cadets will be really screaming foul play.

Hope they've got big wallets; average houses $450k +, rents $500PW for a dogbox.

WA Visa applications $50k, 20 year bond $500k!

Plenty of nice boatramps on the coast and river though.

Well we all know by now, it is only "qlink" when it suits them!

I am sure there are a few sunnies guys who would love to live in Perth? What about them eh? You are taking sunnies aircraft to fly there you might as well take a few pilots too

He he.

Yes, there are people who want to move north, south and west however are stuck under the present structure. Surly there must be a way to do a straight one on one swap for those few concerned, after all this is a new base

Not to mention not 1 Sunstate pilot was told of this base through any official channel. Sunnies had to read it on PRUNE. Engaged much?

Word is there aren't many people in the SY crew room that are keen for a permanent position in Perth.. but many keen for a temporary basing... 2-6 months... it’s all about the $$$...

It’s not clear how much, if any, will be paid for moving costs... I'm going with $0 knowing how tight upstairs is...

Given their history with starting up bases.... ADL/CB to name a few.... skepticism is high.... and rightly so....divorce rates are high enough without the company fing you about...

If enough say NO then they'll just go to Network and say "Here's a Q400, enjoy"

If it is a quick command they will find enough and soon they will be able to put new hires in the 400 from the start, so problem solved.

There's nothing stopping the company from putting the new hires onto Perth base. All management has to worried about is getting command, and then fill the Fo requirements with new hire.

Agreed. FOs can be filled with new hires whilst paxing current FOs to fill the gaps in the meantime. There are plenty of high time, low seniority guys in Sydney who came into the company a year or so ago that would more than likely take a command over there. The only hurdle would be the '2 years in the company' requirement.
