Just a thought, what is happening with this SYD hangar that Borghetti wants.
With all that is going on in the airline i thought this might have been a priority.

With the airline expanding etc etc, this was a big announcement back in Feb I think, and since then nothing.
Was it just a media stunt or is it really going to happen.

I think JB knows exactly what made QF so succesful, he is a smart man. And now that QF are throwing it all away, JB will happily grab it and rebuild Virgin the same way. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and he is grabbing it with both hands.

only problem for JB is he doesn't have the Qanats name, perhaps a bid to the Qantas board for the trade mark could sort that out since they will do anything for a buck.

Perhaps, but I reckon he will have all the Qf people before too long.

And Qf will probably be left with overseas MRO's and AME certifiers, and whatever else comes with that.

Oh really , the Hangar hasn't started yet ? Ah well it will start at the same time as the Engine and Component workshops , won't it? Perhaps not but yet again Santa will soon be on us and we all believe in that .Don't we!

Hi all, just wondering if this Sydney hangar is still going ahead. Is there any construction taking place?

I hope they plan a BIG smoko room for all the engineers that will bolt from QF to the big new hangar (close to maccas and all).

I heard that some of the current hangars/buildings around that area that are on the proposed site, have had their leases renewed for another 2 years by SACL???

I doubt many LAMES Lvl 6 or above would leave QF to join VB on a lower pay.

And since JB announced that new hangar not even a sod of dirt has been turned to make way for it.

So all the QF LAMEs waiting to jump ship might have to wait longer or move to JHAS not that they have the 787 work, but once again how far off is that going to be.

Nothing good happens quick in this industry.

It's several levels higher before, reaching VB pay.

Whilst i absolutely support the workers at QF in their battle against AJ and LC, i can't see how JB would be likely to offer any LAME's or pilots jobs given that they could arguably be described as the most militant workers in the country. Why would management take the risk of bringing in demonstrated trouble makers at a time when he looking to increase engagement of the workforce

According to today's AGM, the hangar will become operational in 2014 and will require an additional 300 staff.

Anything could happen between now and 2014, on both sides of the tarmac.

Now that qantas is actively making engineers redundant, when will John Borghetti make good on his offer to employ those engineers?
Or was it just empty words in the media to make him look good?
