"terrible mid-air scare"

News.com.au today reports of a "mid air scare" on a flight into Cairns this week on which Danni Minogue was a passenger....

"Dannii Minogue was reportedly caught up in a mid-air scare on a recent flight to Australia when the plane had trouble landing.
The singer was travelling with her son Ethan to Cairns when dense fog meant the pilot struggled to land the jet".

"We had the most terrible landing. We were coming down to land and suddenly shot straight back up again", a friend of Minogue's told the UK's Metro newspaper."

"There was too much cloud and the pilot could not see the runway. It was all very scary."

The plane landed safely.

Minogue was travelling to Cairns to film a scene for her UK TV show The X Factor.

Now....I cannot believe what I had just read. I cannot believe this is actually a headline on news.com.au. Fog in Cairns...not unusual either is fog in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane for that matter. VERY scary, I doubt it. Unsettling maybe but which ever airline this was (they didn't mention) I'm sure the pilots whould have informed the pax of the situation and procedure before or after the fact. They are reporting like it's the first go around ever done. At least it wasn't for a mech reason, now that would have made front page of all national and UK papers. Ridiculous. Pilot "struggled", how the hell would they know? Sounds routine to me. No offence to Ms Minogue it's the stupid reporters that have nothing better to do that really irks me.

Fake Horizon

The poor diddums, she must have been so scared. I actually heard that it was a non-event. Apparently she hopped up to go take a squirt and the botox had pulled her eyes tight against her cheeks creating an 'ignis fatuus', and then her bolt on's blocked her remaining vision therby creating a sort of spacial distortion.
She is ok. Resting well.

Oh
my
god.

The dreaded we climbed vertically and I thought I was gonna die manoeuvre.

Bloggs & i did one of them recently, also at Cairns off the VOR-A, because we weren't visual.

Despite a brief PA to the pax advising what was happening, one of them said to the FA as he deplaned, "f%&k you, you should have told us what was happening". Moron

Oh come now! Have you no compassion?
She was most likely putting her lippy on to meet the awiating throng of media when this BEASTLY pilot went around and smudged her face.
What an impending disaster that would be if she stood before them not looking her best.

Oh come now you big brave pilots. You (Mostlytossers ) must know some fear of the unknown?
This person knows nothing of what it is to fly an aeroplane. How do you heros think you would go standing in front of, say 1000 people and singing? Yeah, I know all of you heros would be excelent, and would handle it like a true pro.

There are two points here
One - Metro is a free newspaper and has to fill it's pages with something no matter how trivial

Two - Ms Minogue did have here very young child with her and I am sure materal instincts kicked in

Thanks for reading

Pardon my ignorance................

Are we sure the 'said' machine is Commercial RPT???- and not her own G5, or is she not the Launch Customer for the G6??? (maybe), Gulfstream will be looking to kick someone's @rse................ for this (apparently).

True, not sure if it was a private jet but if one lands it usually makes the papers here. Regardless I thought it was a piece of pointless "headlne news" that actually made "the news" and was worth posting how ridiculous this story is. Completely un newsworthy as CNS has had so many diversions this week due to ILS out, so many diversions to TSV, well she was probably just another. At least they landed! My gripe is with news.com.au for putting such a ridculous story on their page, I mean, seiously!

Leave Dannii alone. The comment was from "a friend of Minogue's.." Probably more of a hangar-on than a friend.

There is a lesson for the PR side of our job. Given the weather, I wonder if a pre-warning PA was made to alert the pax to a possible GA? I wonder what the PAs after the event from the crew were like? I wonder what the handling of the aeroplane was like? If an AP GA is going to be an abrupt affair, then you'd better warn the pax beforehand.

While DM may have been over the top, it doesn't take much to genuinely upset passengers and we should put ourselves in their shoes more often.
