"terrible mid-air scare"
There's a PR lesson here. I wonder if a pre-approach PA was made warning of a possible/probable GA? If the aeroplane's GA is abrupt, then you'd better give the pax a heads-up beforehand so you don't scare them. I wonder what the post-GA PAs were like?
Some pax get genuinely upset by this sort of thing, and while DM's reaction may be considered over the top, the aeroplane is generally not filled with Chuck Yeagers who love any bit of excitement you can throw at them.

Now....I cannot believe what I had just read. I cannot believe this is actually a headline on news.com.au.
Accurate and sensible reporting are not a priority anywhere at News Ltd.
I'm surprised that you're surprised!
I wonder if a pre-warning PA was made to alert the pax to a possible GA?

Anyhow, she and they are aware that their fears are irrational but sadly, knowing they're being irrational doesn't help them to behave rationally.
One of their fears, say when encountering turbulence for example, is whether said bumps have caught the tech crew unawares. In their irrational state, they're further worried that because the bumps have upset them, the bumps may have scared the pilots into making a mistake.
So, for this lot any way, advance warning from the pilot/s that it might be bumpy descending into ASP (40 degrees & thermals) or, there might be a missed approach, does ease their angst; just a little.
Dani Minogue in mid air scare... - in breaking news - Kylie Minogue has bought a nice new hat! We now cross live to the hat sales person...
I 'struggle' to figure out how she's spent a lifetime flying around the world, yet this is the first time she's experienced a GA.
Perhaps she was miffed that there was no crowd to greet her, and this was her way of saying 'i'm here!'
Still, as far as less popular, less talented, attention seeking little sisters go - i'd rather Dani than Mimi any day - at least Dani doesn't start throwing punches at flight attendants after delaying a flight whilst travelling FOC.
