330 or 767 will do domestic and medium haul. Eventually under V Aus operation on V Aus Ts and Cs. Wet lease initially then crewed by whoever has seniority, performance, merit or whatever the flavour of the day is.

lets hope they have not got too much old QF and choose to keep boeing fleet. 777 and 767-400 share wheels, flt deck, tooling....blah blah. Not going to be 787 but you can dream. no slots avail for a long time. it would be great to see a smart decsion on this.

Just a thought, but how does the 767-400 and for that matter 787 A330 go for fitting into the domestic gates.
767-200/300 are smaller wingspans I believe. Just wondering how that all fits into the game?

Jaba, the B767-400 has the same wing as the -200 & -300 but with tapered wingtips so the wingspan is slightly longer than standard but there would be significantly less problems fitting them at domestic terminals than the A330, B787 and B777. The landing gear is 450mm longer than the previous versions (to allow tail clearance on rotate/landing) and are fitted with larger 50" wheels (same as B777).
As empire4 said, the B764 flight deck is common with the B777 so crews could could be endorsed on both types - would make it attractive wrt crewing issues.

Logically the first A330/767 will be wet leased. If it's the 330 we may even see some Jetstar or Strategic guys operating it.Better book a room at the Brekky Creek boys and organise your one union meeting.

There has been an A330 sitting outside one of the maint. hangars at YBBN for moths, in a "raw sugar" colour, i thought it may have been for Strategic. Anyone know who it belongs to? Maybe they will provide two of them to VB?

That makes sense then! Having done some work on their new hangar at YAMB I would have expected them out there, but clearly predelivery work by QF being done then.

Thread drift alert
Jaba,
The RAAF MRTTs are flown 'green' from the factory to QDS at BN, where the tanker conversion (including painting in Ronnie grey) is then carried out.
The first two converted were then flown back to Spain for testing.
