Qantas boosting presence

Qantas says delivery of three new A380 aircraft before the end of the year will allow more flights from Australia to the UK and the United States.

The airline also is set to expand its European and North American networks through code-sharing agreements.

Qantas said today three new A380 aircraft will be delivered between the end of July and December, allowing an increase in services to London and Los Angeles from August 6.

Daily services will be run out of Sydney to both destinations, while services from Melbourne to Los Angeles will operate three times per week.

By the end of the year, Qantas will operate 34 services per week between Australia and the UK and US, it said.

The flying kangaroo’s fifth and six A380s are due to arrive in coming months as the double-decker jet becomes more common in the skies.

“Our fourth A380 arrives at the end of July, allowing us to increase Sydney-Singapore-London A380 services from three to five per week, and Sydney-Los Angeles services from three to four per week,” Qantas executive Rob Gurney said.

That will see an additional eight US cities added to the current agreement, connecting with Qantas flights into Los Angeles and San Francisco.

In addition, Qantas will begin a new code-share agreement with Spanish carrier Iberia from July 15, resulting in joint services to Madrid via Frankfurt and London.

Qantas shares were up two cents to $2.25 at 10.45am.

Misreporting

I have seen these articles too. They are a misreporting of the Qantas press release About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases

Somehow the media turned the Qantas release title:
Qantas to Increase A380 Services to London and Los Angeles
Into the newspaper headline:
The press release talks about increasing the number of services operated by the A380 rather than the total number of services.

ie Qantas press release says:
By the end of 2009 this year (sic) Qantas will operate 34 services per week between Australia and the UK and US with its A380 fleet.
Reported by media as:
By the end of the year, Qantas will operate 34 services per week between Australia and the UK and US, it said.
Qantas already operates more than 34 services per week between Australia and the UK and US.

How would they go with a primary school reading comprehension test?

Gday MID.

The below link was the best I could find when I asked a similar question. Is not accurate to the day though.
