Why all the F/A Threads?
The issue as I see it, is that within QF there are two (or more?) distinct cultures in the FA group.... Short Haul and Long Haul. The tradition and the egos in the LH group are very protective of their culture and are resisting any change..... The SH group are a very different bread and certainly not so internaly focused. I am sure that QF are across this issue but only time wil change things as the LH old guard move on. Mind you there are some top folk in both groups and everyone has their own dropkicks, but that is a fact of life. It is up to QF to manage that situation and the different cultures, which given the industrial implications they will do over time.
Sadly from outside the FA world the LH group or a small % of them a letting the rest of the team down.
Culture = something you have but dont realise it till someone trys to change it!!

Capt Kremin...There are two parts or answers as I see it to your post...
Firstly,I agree with your statement that we had the best job in the world from perhaps the 70's through to the mid 1990's...
The company also knew this and spent a considerable amount of time and energy on trying to fix this....the problem was that we were an acceptable target with less industrial strength than the tech crew....
I disagree with you about us seeing ourselves as an elite group because QF mainline tech crew would also fit easily into that description. It is all too easy to look at another group and take pot shots at them.I won't give examples of demeaning treatment from tech crew towards cabin crew during those years but it was more prevalent than it is now....In fact your comment about S/H being a breath of fresh air reminds me of the notable difference between the tech crew attitude to cabin crew on the 747 and the 767.....in fact the attitude to cabin crew from 767 techies was diametrically opposed to that of the 747 tech crew... As said in the previous post by Le 3rd Homme ,homophobic and misogynistic attitudes from the tech crew were the norm compared to todays tech crew....
One of the main differences between cabin crew and tech crew is that within tech crew you basically have one agenda. To fly and go home .....
With cabin crew you have so many groups that have different goal posts....
Secondly,I believe one of the main problems with cabin crew posts on PPRuNe and the reason why so much vitriol is present is that the union and it's supporters use this forum as a media outlet to put a positive spin on any agenda they have...
Then when there is any criticism of the union (and with livelihoods at stake there always will be) there is an almost instantaneous and violent reaction from the union and it's supporters.....hence the level of abuse and anger.
What is the answer....I don't know but I doubt anything will change in the near future unfortunately....

QCCA crew aside, who'd want to go any performance let alone a repeat performance with the LHCC these days. I'm with Capt Kremin, give me a SHCC any day.
LHCC are dinosaurs who need to move on and realise that the world has changed. Bring on the QCCA guys. It's just unfortunate they were screwed by their own at the last EBA.

..One last thing..
Then you have antagonistic tech crew like funbags who don't want us here and will post provocatively with monotonous regularity on cabin crew threads but not on pilot related threads...
With an obvious intent....so this sort of belligerent behaviour is not isolated to cabin crew.

Cogwheel What a Crock
QF LH CC have been subjected to nothing BUT change for 10 years. There are about about 4000 crew and less than 20% have 20 years or more of service.75% of all crew are female.
SH havent flown multi deck aircraft so they havent been tainted by the SkyGod mentality...yet

you are so right,harry
there has been nothing but change in LH since QF went private. the bad news is that we got infiltrated by many S/H people (which under the original QF employment rules would have never made the cut in LH) who brought along a culture of dobbing, laziness, challenging seniors and authority.
A bit of nostalgie when i remember we used to respect flight directors, seniors and got the job done with every one working together and of the plane socialised and had a lot more fun then.
as for pilots i rarley have any problem with any of them, but as in CC there are a few who slipt through the net.
