Air Nz B747's and B777's and B767s parked up at AKL Intl

Today there were 4 747's, 1 777 and 1 767 parked on the tarmac at AKL Intl, lt alone what is down at the Hangar. Does not look good for Air Nz having all thoses planes parked up.

Of "thoses" planes, were you able to establish how many were parked up out of service, and how many were parked up between flights? There's a fairly significant difference...

TT

Good point. They should park every one of their aircraft and save even more money.

I think Super Dooper needs to give us a day by day count, by time of day.

And what does "parked up" mean. Were they remote parked?

I'm not prepared to panic yet.

Sorry two tango, just about duplicated your post through not reading carefully

A lot of Air NZ's flights depart after 8pm. LAX x2, SFO, YVR, HKG, China (among others). These flights usually arrive back in the morning, some do a trans Tasman, sit around and depart again in the evening

They have been parked up for several days, but on the aircraft on the gnd means they are not making any $$$... Plus they are demolishing a 747 down at the hgr in AKL.

I noticed this morning in Auckland an Air NZ B747-4 hangared with airline markings removed and just the paint job remaining. Is it being removed from the fleet?? Also, about 3 weeks ago when I was in Auckland I noticed a PAC Blue jungle jet sitting there with VH rego. Does it live in NZ now??

Only four flights were cancelled during the Zeal Flight Attendants Lock Out. Hence I doubt any A320s were "parked up"

No, the PacificBlue painted Embraer E190 was enroute to VirginBlue in Australia, on it's delivery flight. It stopped in New Zealand for a couple of days.

there were alot more than 4 flights cancelled during the strike. I know of 4 on one day alone.

At the time the offical company line was 'scheduled maintenance'. crap you don;t cancell flights due to scheduled maint!

Alot of the flights operated - but on a 747, or 767.

i believe that the ANZ 767's have some of the highest daily usage rates of any airline. they fly something like 16 hours per day.
NONE are "parked".
the 747 in the hangar without decals is also sans engines, and has been permanently de-commissioned by ANZ.
Makes NO sense whatsoever to park a 777, as they are the most economical of jets.... and NONE have been "parked". If anything, they would be doing MORE flying as they downguage the 747 to a 777!

Methinks that maybe someone is fishing here.
