yes it was a pretty stupid thing to do, but then to put it onto UTube beggars belief.

This guy will NEVER die from a brain tumour.

Interesting to note the comment in the article

Flying a model aircraft within 5.5km of an airport and at any distance on an approach path is a Federal offence.
Hmmm.... I guess anywhere in Australia is on the approach path of some airport "at any distance"

This special individual needs no reprimand - survival of the fitessed will get this clown. Failing that, this moron and the GREEN LASER mob should be sent to manually clear land mines in war ravaged 3rd world countries.

I've rather enjoyed the media reports on it. Mel on Sunrise was particularly funny when she said something along the lines "the poor pilot must have been startled". The pilot didn't know anything about it and it took the You Tube footage to actually realise that it was a VB flight and not a QF one!!

Gotta love the media!!

So this was fairly widespread reported on commercial media? I havent seen it on any of the informed news sites I look at. Obviously a storm in a tea cup and as for Sunrise oh please spare me that is NOT media or journalism! Its a bunch of wally's crappying on!

I had an "airmiss" with a large R/C aircraft very early in my flying career - before my first solo - and it was quite a scary experience. Flying Instructor Stogmuller called the Police via Heathrow Approach Radar (nice English Sunday afternoon in the early 70's, those guys had not much to do) and by the next circuit, the miscreants were helping the Plod with their enquiries.

Having seen the damage an Eagle can do to a C150 canopy, I'm not sure Mr Piper had large (6' span) model aircraft in mind when he built the perspex windshield of the Cherokee 140. G-AWBS if I remember correctly!

I'm with the "lock'em up and throw away the key" brigade. No hope of rehab for that little remote pilot.
