QANTAS suspended plan to launch an MRO joint venture in Malaysia?

Heard on the grapevine that QF has suspended this? Does this mean less MRO service contracted out & more in Australia....

I would say its been suspended because a little known and very conveniently hushed up and damning report about the last A/C sent to MAS has found its way into AJ's hands..............................

Don't know about suspended, it says 'scrapped' here:

Qantas backs down on offshore maintenance

"Malaysia Airlines and Qantas began merger talks early last year but they broke down over the likely ratio of shareholdings in any merged venture."

I was in a company that had first hand experience with MAS maintenance.

Let me say I love flying with MAS, very nice and all that, so the facade is all in tact.

The company I was with lost an aircraft, well had to be written off due to an incident that was attributed to faulty maintenance by MAS.

There were other problems as well that caused major concerns with other aircraft in the fleet.

You cant beat Aussie standards in this regard, but "Q" wants to do what Pacific Brands is doing, or ANZ for that matter, exporting jobs overseas for increased profit.

Maybe "the leprachaun" has got wind of something, that would end up costing "Q" more than if they went ahead with the MAS maintenance deal.

So if its off, I say its a good deal for "Q" and MX in the long run.

Thank Christ for some common sense at last. This was never going to be a good strategy for reasons I've outlined many times.
