Qantas A380 Woes

These things just keep breaking down.
The QF 31 tonight Saturday the 28th of Feb has just gone tits up.
Resheduled departure Sun 1st March...sometime.
Fuel burn rates are 5% to 10% off.
Computer initiated fuel dumps and numerous failures to depart.
Rule one...never buy the "A" version of anything

Compensation

With compensation payments from Airbus Qantas probably wont have to pay one cent for their first four Airbus A380s

A380 Driver

You need to read a little more and get out into the real world more often.
A recent computer initated fuel dump required the shutting down of number three engine to correct the problem
Why did they shutdown number 3?.Airbus told them to
No names no packdrill but it happened.
How do I know? I was on the affected Aircraft
Try to keep an open mind. There is a lot of stuff going on outside your sphere of influence and knowledge.

Dear Boy

Sarcasm Sarcasm tsk tsk.
Something happened somewhere and you were not informed..Gosh.
Contact Airbus and they will explain the problem and solution to you.
You will believe them? Wont You?

Rule One

Never assume anything.
No one assumes you are an A380 driver just because you say so.
We can pretend that you are
You certainly dont seem to be well informed.
But lets not assume that to be true either.
At this point agree to disagree

Pilot?

By that you mean a P.U.I.T?
Or an S/O with a Starfire or Vampire rating
Perhaps a member of an Aero Club who is the proud owner of a Chipmunk.?

I have heard that a Qantas A380 had a nose wheel steering problem in Singapore with subsequent delay. Apparently the other two A380 operators have recently also experienced nose gear steering problems. A380-800 driver, can you elaborate?

Nosewheel Problems?

A380 you have no knowledge of these problems.Using you own reasoning they therefore dont exist.
Just like the fuel dump. You dont know about it so it doesnt exist.
You are blind to the faults of your new toy

Greetings '380 driver' from another one (mine's red and white)
Ignore blackguard for he/she knows not of which it speaks as you can see in this thread and on the 330 fridge thread.
blackguard says
A recent computer initated fuel dump required the shutting down of number three engine to correct the problem
Oh really- I wonder which computer finger reached up and armed the 'fuel dump' guarded P/B, to allow the computer to initiate a fuel dump.
Yes, go on blackguard tell us how the dump system was armed by the computer.
This should be fun.

re - Nose wheel Steering fault. - Can confirm. Suspect - tug pushed nosewheel beyond steering limit, though not confirmed yet.

My Two Cents

Computers cant override switches?
Remember the tree lopper or the recent porpoising of an A330 near Perth?
Computers arent supposed to be able to that:Right?
Computers can bypass and override any thing.
The brave new world requires that you be aware of that or you may end up in the middle of a smoking black hole.
Computers aint perfect...thats why we still have pilots.

When your computer runs out to the lounge room and turns your TV on, please let me know. Then I'll start to worry.

No Refuting From the Boys With Toys

But lads what caused the tree lopping?
If it wasnt the computer it must have been....the pilot.
Be careful lads the computers are going to eventually deal you out of the equation.
The only thing holding up pilotless planes is public perception.
Aircraft are virtually pilotless now.
You two just get paid a lot of appearance money.
BTW my computer is my TV.Web TV is here... havent you heard?

Defcon4, Your so-called "tree lopping" involved passenger fatalities. I find your flippancy, grotesque. I'm over you. Goodbye

The Point Exactly

If computers were perfect you wouldnt need pilots.
If pilots were perfect you wouldnt need computers
Its a symbiotic relationship.
I wasnt aware that there were fatalities with the treelopper. It was a media event for Airbus.
If I am wrong I apologize
Loss of life in Aviation is an abolute tragedy that effects us all.

Why gloat to everyone on here about it? All aircraft break down, new and old, for every airline.

Computer initiated fuel dumps............
On an A380, that is impossible!

Just as impossible as seat 36abc reading light switch causing leading edge slat asymmetry shutdown on a 767........... no wait, that did happen didn't it.

What about a B zone lav door lock putting on the Anti-Skid HYD lt on a 742....hang on, that happened too....

Cr@p, maybe it is possible??

A380 Teething Problems

Emirates Sing Air and Qantas are all having problems with these aircraft.
QF31 (A380 Service)Fell over last night. There have been nosewheel problems.
The aircraft does not meet expected fuel burn rates. There have been problems with refuelling
No one is gloating over this. But everyone has concerns. The cost of providing customers accommodation is high. Not to mention the enormous inconvenience.
Didnt Emirates have an A380 parked against the fence in Dubai for awhile?
