Qantas Staff Survey

A Qantas Staff Survey is being randomly distributed to employees.
It is cleverly disguised as an invitation to join an employee panel.
It is called "Connexion"
It is a con.
Go to the website and answer a brief questionaire and then setup a login.
Anyone...repeat.... anyone..... can set up this login. You do not need an invitation nor do you need to a be a Qantas employee.
You will be included in any and all surveys deliverd by Vision Critical a marketing survey company.
Rather than just be upfront and honest and call it a staff survey Borghetti is calling it an employee panel by invitation.
Your details are supposed to be kept confidential and will not be used for punitive purposes.
Ask some questions before you get involved.

They Are Pathetic

My invitation is already in the garbage.
When clearing my file/mailbox I always position myself close to a bin.Ninety percent of the stuff ends up there. My "invitation" was first in the bin after the last clearing.
10% of the Amazon rainforest supplies Qantas with paper for the shredder every year.
Not a responsible corporate citizen.
Stupid Stupid people run Qantas....it seems its not about to change.

Results

Staff surveys have always been a disaster The Company rarely if ever publishes results.Even then there is spin attached. There is a snowballs chance in hell of ever rebuilding employee trust.
This is why these pricks want to get into bed with another airline.
Dilute the fractured Qantas Culture......with another airline culture.
Perhaps Alitalia....LOL

I wonder if the results will be worse than the last engagement survey.
Is that why they are doing the survey by invitation only so as to hand pick respondants and manipulate the outcome? If so I predict the result will probably end up being only slightly better than atrocious even with the fiddling.

Haha, well I received one in my mailbox and I'm hardly pro-company!!! Don't think my responses would get a very warm reception.

Perhaps you could reply with a link tp PPRuNe and the D&G forums. Plenty of information here to consider as a broard survey.

Well TL
fill your boots, tell 'em what you really think.
How many nono-seconds will it take for the results to end up on management,s desk?
I'm sure the dog whisperer will look most favourably upon any promotional assessments as a result !

When you answer these surveys, because you are that p!ssed off you want them to know, the paper pushers come back with the line that 'staff engagement' is up.

These surveys actually allow them to meet a target of getting 'staff engagement'.

Unfortunately the way management is now run in Australia these dodgy surveys are a win either way for ineffectual management.

If the usual suspects, who don't have anything better to do, and habitually fill these things out are the only ones to reply, then 'staff engagement' is down but most people (the oxygen thieves) are happy. It is then trumpeted about how happy (oxygen thieves) the staff are. Therefore management need to continue doing whatever it is they do to 'engage' the other staff to fill out the survey.

If the bulk of the staff are that unhappy that they bother filling these things in, then 'staff engagement' is up and we need to further 'engage' the unhappy staff in the ethos of the company. Thereby showing that there is a continuing need for the oxygen thieves to exist. The level of 'unhappiness' is then not actually stated, but handpicked areas are shown against some industry average to show that it isn't so bad.

The organisations or consultants that bleed money from companies are happy because they will get another go , and corresponding paycheque, for the next survey and the oxygen thieves are happy because they have justified their existence.

Seriously, when was the last time anyone ever saw something constructive come out of one of these surveys?

There is a whole industry that exist like ticks on a dog feeding off companies around Australia. Unfortunately companies have these 'ticks' living inside them and it is a symbiotic relationship between those inside the company and those outside acting as consultants. They are very clever at justifying each others existence. They are actually parasites.

invalid survey method

The scientific approach to surveys are that subjects are selected randomly with no bias whatsoever upon such selection. Only then can the results of a survey (with a sufficient minimum number) can be extrapolated to represent a given wider population.

The above description sounds un-scientific, and hence would be invalid.

TL, tell them that if they want to improve staff engagement then perhaps a small step would be to get rid of the fuel surcharge for a staff travel seat that would otherwise be empty and where the fuel is covered by the actual fare anyway.

Absolutely Keg, this recently announced fuel surcharge reduction is a joke and a further insult to our intelligence.

"Reduction in Domestic Staff Travel Fuel Surcharges The fuel surcharge on all staff travel tickets for Qantas and QantasLink Australian and New Zealand domestic services sold on or after Friday 28 November will be reduced from $22 per sector to $17 per sector. This reduction is in line with recent announcements regarding commercial fuel surcharge reductions."

Keg,

Unfortunately I didn't see anything that enabled a "free text" response.

It was a very simple and short survey actually - it seemed like more of the questions related to the respondent's position/age/location etc. Very suspicious really!!!

blow.n.gasket,

No chance to really vent my spleen - but you make a good point about anonymity and where the results might end up!!!

P.S. Who is the dog whisperer anyway? Initials?

Unforuntately Australia has become the Can't do Country,

Used to be the Can do Country a while back, this survey sounds just like another joke that companies pull,

These days there is so many regulations cant even go to the toilet without worrying about stupid OHS messages.

If you dont like it act dont complain! Spam them and if that doesnt work just protest, simple really... posting here wont matter picketing the companies offices will ^^
