So has Qantas been given the rights to fly from Dubai to Paris or Singapore to Tokyo?

DXB has an 'open skies' policy, such that if they (QF)wanted to actually grow rather than cut back, they could fly from DXB to CDG, or anywhere alse. SIA, amongst others, already flies via DXB to other destinations. No insular 'protect the dinosaur' policies here....like the Aust-USA sectors.

Would that competition be like the cartel OPEC?
Hopefully not, but I think airfares are a little high on routes from say Melb/Syd - LAX, compared with the competition on the Kangaroo Route
