Danger What a Dill!

From the ABC News Website.

Vic man charged over plane bomb hoax

Posted 5 hours 57 minutes ago (03 2241z)

Victorian to appear in a Cairns court over an alleged bomb hoax. (ABC)

A Victorian man has been arrested in Cairns, after allegedly telling police there was a bomb on board a plane that had left the far north Queensland city last night.

It is alleged the 31-year-old called 000 about 11:00pm AEST last night and said there was a bomb on board a commercial flight from Cairns to Melbourne.

Police say the call was traced to a mobile phone registered to an address in Hampton Park in Victoria.

They called the number and a negotiator spoke to the man who surrendered himself to police a short time later.

He has been charged with the use of a carriage service for a hoax and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.

Clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed. There are no flights from cairns to Melbourne airborne at that time normally. I bet the panic eased when they discovered that, and then focussed on finding the feckwit!

Wrong.
DJ 652 leaves daily from CNS to MEL at 1935hrs. The aircraft could still have been in the air at 2300hrs AEDT.

I agree with Jabawocky...

Irrespective of whether there was an aircraft airborne at the time the guy is clearly not the brightest light on the harbour and does not understand the problems he has caused. The boys in blue should insert the phone where the sun does not shine and he is unable to use it again...

I'd suggest that some one who phones through a bomb hoax has no regard for the trouble they're going to cause. But to do it from one's own phone shows a definite proclivity for stoopidity.

Gooday QF Skywalker.

Only if it was running very late

It was at 11pm AEST which is midnight in Melbourne so AEDT is where??

The VB flight should have been there and empty by then.......

Agreed Claret............ you are not exactly smart doing that, even with the caller ID turned off, I think they have ways of finding you .
