Boeing machinists to end 57-day strike

Source: ABC
Boeing machinists have voted by a large majority to return to work after a 57-day strike which ground work at the US aeronautics giant to a halt.

Their union says it has delivered economic certainty and quality benefits for the next four years, something few Americans have.

Boeing's 27,000 machinists, who represent 16 per cent of the company's workforce, began picketing in September after last-ditch contract talks broke down.

The two sides resumed federally mediated talks last week to break the deadlock.

I don't know if you have noticed, but the VAus radio ads have started appearing again! They have been absent for a couple of months. I reckon it may still go ahead...

That's one problem for Boeing solved but the licensed engineers agreement runs out next month and they won't accept any deal that gives them less than the machininsts so there could be more industrial action.

Anything less........ The new deal that was accepted is the same deal just the numbers jiggled around.

Only difference is the deal on outsourcing of work at the factory by component suppliers.

They are all over the same time about about USD$10-15K worse off than had they accepted the original deal .

Just goes to show you how dumb some of these unions are, and this is from the inside. So what did they prove.
