RedTBar you are spot on with that. QF does not replace the departing dead beats with anything but more rejects from the reject shop. As soon as I read that Alan Joyce the new wonder boy for QF wanted to engage the staff it made the ebola virus look attractive. The word engagement must be AJ's new word for last month and he had to learn how to use it in a sentence.

Does anyone need any more proof that there is no justice in this world? People like this with multi-million dollar paychecks who tell everyone else to tighten up the belt... if there was any justice in the world a man like GD would have been offed a long time ago!

You know there is no difference between Geoff Dixon and Jeff Skilling the former CEO of Enron, they both screwed the company and the staff for everything they could get out of it, the main difference is one is spending his days as ass bait in sing sing and the other is getting away with it.

If you analyse the Enron Board it doesnt look much different to what QF has today!!!!!!!I mean QF has its own Andy Fastow aka Peter Gregg CFO, there are so many similarities its scary.......

However much you may rate the guy, there is of course no way that GD's work could be rated for remuneration as justifying the equivalent of say 60 QF Captains' salaries. The simple truth is that power is being abused in a way worthy of any African dictator, by the boards of companies all over the world who have their collective noses in the trough, moving wealth to themselves in amounts beyond any fairness, at the expense of both shareholders and fellow staff. The oft quoted rationale of motivation and risk-taking has long since been lost - bonuses are paid in good times and bad, and failure is often rewarded as handsomely as success. The so-called independent remuneration committees are usually no such thing, being often stuffed with non-executives who are simply directors from other companies, who just indulge in mutual back scratching. Ditto the boards of the majority shareholding institutions, guardians of our savings and pension funds, who should but don't stop this with their AGM votes, no doubt fearful of setting off a chain reaction on their own City bonuses. In short, the alleged corporate governance system relies on foxes to guard the chicken coop!

Licenced Aircraft Engineers at QANTASLINK Tamworth have not had a pay rise since July 2005. It is a bit hard to swallow the companies offer of 3% PA when the CPI is over 4% and the boss gets a payrise of nearly $200,000. Thats nearly 4 times the average annual pay of the engineers. Maybe gd could go to Tamworth and tell the guys face to face why he is worth so much. All I can say is gd GFYS.

Maybe Tricky is cashing up for the legal shyte fight that he may find himself in when he pulls the pin.....
There are many who want scalps for the APA fiasco, the freight cartel mess, etc
They might be waiting in the wings so it does not damage the red rat... but when he goes he will be cannon fodder I hope.

Does that I.C.A.C thing still exist???? (Independent Commission Against Corruption)... They would have a field day at QF with all their dirty deals and jobs for mates, and ill put you on my board if you put me on yours....
ing disgraceful !!!!

Whats the bet he turns up at Telstra, perhaps the NRMA board, one of the insurance companies (well, one that has not gone broke) The Commonwealth bank would be nice, but you can bet he won't be doing Meels on Wheels just yet.

$12mill for trashing a brand, ruining one of the top 6 airlines in the world, getting the staff totally off side, pissing off the paying passengers, sorry customers, and leaving the cupboard bare aircraft wise for the future. The board should hang their heads in shame and do the honorable thing and resign. I wont hold my breath. They wouldnt know how to spell respect.

This has probably been written before, but how can a guy that's earning millions per year like Joyce say that he believes Qantas pilots are overpaid?

When was the last time he earned less than a Qantas pilot's yearly salary in one month?

I think what he meant was the A380's are behind schedule and the 787 is even further behind. Meanwhile they are flying some aircraft that should have been retired and are taking more and more time to maintain. If CASA suddenly decided to ground a certain type due to "issues" then what would QF be able to do at short notice?

SKYSTAR ,mate,
With the looming worldwide economic meltdown and the subsequent drying up of affordable capital ,I'd suggest the magnitude of the order for new aircraft may have to be altered to match what the Company can afford.
In fact I could give you 35 billion reasons why the size of the firm orders will in all probability be reduced!
Let us see what transpires from the Board Meeting in November shall we.

Angry Disgusted!!

Hey folks I've come in late but after seeing the story on TV tonight re Dixon and his retirement package I am bloody disgusted.

Qantas is struggling to maintain it's integrity, it has gone backwards in safety, service and reasonable airfares.........and that jerk takes a multi million dollar goodbye package.

No wonder the morale at Qantas is shot and it has lost the plot.
Sad to see all that history tarnished by greed and incompetence.

Shame on you Dixon and all your cronies and BLOODY GOOD RIDDANCE!

Let's see if Joyce can restore some public faith in what could be a good company.............................
