ON - is it really doing well??
Sale-e, I doubt the real worth of the current (or immediate past) 'management' teams. You are very much aware that they have never included capital costs in their budgets and therefore their acquisition of a 2nd 733 is just a flight of fantasy at the moment. If Taiwan comes to the financial party in the next few months it may be a different story. The industry has been told of how well the airline is doing, but it is the average Nauruan land-owner who is still subsidising the airline operation. ON will never publish a fully audited annual report as it will prove the huge inefficiencies of the past decade.

I can't totally disagree with you on that one, kwaji. Although this is the leanest operation ON has ever been. Of course a lot of excesses had to be cut, unfortunately the biggest casualties were the local staff.

I, too, noticed you'd removed all your posts, that was intruiging, and I thought we'd seen the last of your incessant opining. Alas it appears we aren't to be so blessed.
Your re-emergence prompts me to respond to the challenge you set (and removed) regarding asking my source about the cabin staff resignations, which I did.
Of the original 16 cabin staff, 14 are still there. The reduction by two was subsequent to disciplinary dismissals. Not all 14 are currently flying as some are on maternity leave but, nonetheless, still employed. No, to iterate, no resignations have occurred.
So, once again, another example wherein your posting is (or more correctly, was) innaccurate.
Shall be my last post on the matter, I've far more fruitful things to do than point out your constant errors and half-truths. Suffice to say that your veracity and the integrity of your ongoing opinion is seriously compromised.

Well done, mate. This must mean more to you since you took the time to investigate. A tad defensive, even.
I sincerely wish ON, all it's staff, and most of all, the owners of Our Airline, the people of Nauru , a prosperous future.

This thread has moved away from the original topic of 'Ozjet aborts trans-Tasman...'. Where is OA's involvement with this now? Any truth in OA's plans for a further two 735s? When are the NLK services resuming?

ON back to old tricks
It seems that the check-book at ON H.Q. in BNE has been 'misplaced' for a while. No pennies in the petty cash tin to pay qsome bills of late and, it appears, that the agreement between NAC (Nauru Air Corporation) & Norfolk Air may have fallen through. Ewan W is reported to be concerned about a few side issues. Nick has been quoted that he will not give up NLK without a fight! ON may be thinking that their NLK Air deal may have have seemed a good idea at the time.
ON admit that they have not paid some other accounts for a good while. As the new relationship with NLK and others may be about to fold, the proposed aircraft share program with APNG (their own 733) may well be on shaky ground.
This will be great to watch from the side-lines, but we may still miss out on long term MAJ-TRW-NAN services.

S 320, if you care to look at page one you'll see that this thread started out with OJ's abandonment of NZ and ON and it's reported takeover of the NLK runs. Seems to me that thread drift has occurred along the way and Kwaj was simply pulling it back into line as Sal-E also recently attempted.
Kwaj Mate, you seem to know an awful lot of what should be privileged information about ON's state of affairs - why don't you 'fess up" as to your association as it looks as your are more than watching it
Yes, ON has it's troubles but it appears that the current management are putting in a sterling effort to improve matters for the benefit of all (and yes, Sal-E, even for the Nauruans before you launch into me). Maybe, though, the management could do an even better job if Cherrie went to work for them .......................

Hi Guy's
Sorry to rain on the parade.
But the 737SF Mel to Per -90kts can carry 15T or 14T with Kgi as Altn.
Aircraft Max of 17T but you will generally bulk out first. That being said I would have loved to got my hands on the 727.

Interesting insight Kwaj. ON will do well in maybe concentrating more effort on one of the issues at stake, and hopefully the most profitable one.
I'm afraid you're a little off the mark re the NLK flights. It looks like they will go ahead, commencing next week. AKL will be included. I'm still wondering how Ewin Wilson got involved with it all, a blast from the past who oversold seats on one of his Kiwi Charter flights using VH-RON...ended up sitting in the toilet for takeoff and landing. Is it impossible for ON to not involve themselves with dodgy characters?
There may be a renewed interest in resuming NAN under an agreement with the Marshall Islands. This should be interesting, especially with the Kiribati governmental policy makers who shut out ON from this service and let in the Fijians (at great expence to Kiribati's travelling public but benefit to the policy makers..haha, pacific politics). This may be one of the reasons (along with charters) why ON may be planning on adding another two 735s to their fleet (with Taiwan assistance of course). Wonder if the north pacific will reopen by next year?

Has Air New Zealand dropped their service to NLK? Understand the charter to BNE-AKL-NLK is damp lease (ie Norfolk using their own cabin crew)? Will they be doing their training with ON or contractor?
