More seats, less service, quicker turn arounds and more productivity, together with clever marketing and STAFF FOCUSED management. THAT was the low cost tmodel that made the likes of Southwest,Jetblue, easyJet and Ryanair the fastest growing, most profitable airlines on the planet, NOT low wages!! All of those pay very well- similar to full service carriers, but with provision for more productive services.

The fact that J* claims to need to keep wages so much lower than the industry standards shows:-

1) Their model is flawed, and

2) Low Cost does not tranlate well to long haul (which is why so very few have tried it)

Motivated, well payed staff have been recognised as the corner stone of any successful business, and not just in Aviation. If J* can't pay the going freight, they can't afford to stay in business.

Jetstar's International foray is a disaster! Making money on Bali and NZ only and taking a bath elsewhere.

Australian Consulate in Hawaii unofficially has advised a 1000% increase in events requiring Consulate intervention since the launch of the Jetstar product into the market.
