Open Skies - open slather??
May have been covered in other threads but with the Minister for SYD curfews advancing the Open Skies talks with the US next week has there been any consultation or economic modelling of the impact of the agreement? (on holders of Aust AOC's)
Also anyone aware of CASA's position of a whole heap of new OS carriers being allowed to bunny hop across the Pacific and around Australian ports? ......I noted one B.Byr*n at the Safer Skies presser last November stating that he [CASA] would not hestitate to start actively considering inspecting OS carriers operating in Aus. - something that they don't apparently do now.
Also - anyone know if any of our unions have had an audience with the new Minister and his minders/advisors? I may have missed something while in my brief holiday mode but it all seems to have the same blurry detail as the much lauded and loathed Mutal Recognition Bill.
Any threads/links/intell appreciated -

Open Skies? Bring it on
Australia desperately needs another full service domestic carrier immediately, either Virgin Blue to upgrade or Singapore Airlines or some other airline invited to compete on Australian domestic routes.
An open skies agreement with the U.S. would eliminate the ability of QF to charge in excess of $18000.00 for a round trip first class fare from SYD to LAX. The airfares charged by QF in their so-called premium cabins on all routes is nothing short of theft and the service provided by management decidedly second rate.
