It ain't gonna change quickly if at all. To return to any normality at check in would require politicians to admit they got it wrong - don't hold your breath!

Being a cynical person, there would be no doubt the providers of security sreening services have a vested interest in "more" rather than "less", and probably got the contract/s in the first place through "connections" and "influence".

BTW, why do the screeners get so excited about laptops and the need to examine them seperately?

Perhaps now the terrorists are just sitting back, looking at airport security, and going: "Heheheh, we made them do that!!!"

to Capt Wally

On reflection, one of the cousins is late 50's, her sister is early 60's.
I told you I'm blonde. But at least I'm not cretinous enough to decide that a terrorist attack could be initiated with a gold dipped gum leaf.

We need, as a team, to complain bitterly about this. Of course we can crash a/c without a pointy weapon. Write to your MP.

The head of SYD airport, Max whatever, said last year that maybe we could have a que for people how travel often, like aircrew and frequent flyers with accreditation. These people would NOT be screened. Not a bad idea.

Capt Arrr, I am amazed at the different sensitivities of detectors around the country. (Insert ONE MAJOR CAPITAL CITY A/P) is the slackest, probably because of the volume that they have to process. Coffs is the worst/strictest, man those people will delay you for a paper clip!
