The Future of Outsourcing?
Is this the new future of Heavy Mantenance outsoucing?
A new influx of contract labourers have just started at BNE Hangar 3 apparently under 457 visas. Hourly rate is around $21 compared to aussie contractors on $35.
Outsource the labour while technically keeping the work in house.
I have no problem with importing labour if theres a genuine shortage in supply but the only reason QF cant get/keep staff is they're not paying market rate

How can QF get workers on 457 visas, when they are giving out redundancies. QF is the cause of the shortage of workers, so they should not get any help. Perhaps someone should visit or notify their local Federal MP about the issue.

They may be with a Labour Hire company, but QF is using that company to cover the shortage they have created.
It may all be legal, but is it ethical. No one in management at QF at the moment seems to know what ethical means.

About a dozen inducted earlier in the week. Not sure what total numbers will be. Also unsure of what trades they are and whether they'll just be bashing tin in backshops so the certification may/may not be an issue.
Also they could be super qualified, the issue is that they are undercutting pay rates. Anyone brought in under this system should be payed the same as locals to stop the company from importing cheap labour

if you can't take the aircraft to china, bring china to the aircraft.
457 visa's at all 3 QF HM's, its not good

Same thing happening to Qantas IT in Sydney. Aussie staff on redundancies after training their Indian replacements, some of which will take over their desks in QCB.
In 2 or 3 years and a few disasters [delay wise] there will be an "insourcing" and new bonuses for managers for their restructuring!
