DC-3 (ZK-AMY) forced landing 9/11 at WLG ?

The DC-3 reg ZK-AMY made a forced landing at Wellington with about 10 charter pax aboard. Props aren't feathered but a full turn out of crash fire. Any ideas what happened ?

Dropped a cylinder is what I heard....Not sure how true the rumour that it left bits n pcs on the RWY is though.

Owch... broke a con rod in P&W2000 radial once, ZK-NWB... didn't stop bleeding oil for two days. I noticed Air West Coast came across the airport with their Dornier 228 to the rescue.

Well, didn't see the Air West come over; good on 'em. I must have gone again by the time they did that.

The info I had came from the skipper of said DC3.....

Glad all is well... Hope it's a front row and a nice easy change for the boy's.

Still, a pity when full of pax!

Understand nothing was left on the runway as it opened again shortly after.
