Question Directors' Fees

Today's SMH had an interesting take on NRMA Directors' Fees and the way in which they are difficult to determine. Read about it here:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/cbd/direc...300686243.html

Does anyone know about who are the directors of the many many Qantas subsidiaries and how much they are being paid? Interestingly, there's not a lot of data about the Qantas subsidiaries in the Annual Report even though they have massive turnover and most make significant contributions to the overall health of Qantas.

And any idea of the 2005, 2004,2003,2002,2001 and 2000 figures. Assuming same number of directors etc.

Would be interesting to see their cost of living increases

It might also be interesting from some of you to reread the papers and the judgements regarding the external Directors of HIH and what happened to them.

The duties of an external Director of a Public Company do not appear onerous on the surface, but if you want to discharge your trust properly they really are...and if things go wrong, you had better have your house and car in your wife's name.

You don't have to commit any acts to be liable, you simply have to fail to be insistent enough in ensuring the company is properly run because you are effectively the steward of the shareholders assets. Fail at your peril.
