Sky Air World getting ERJ 145's

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

10 October 2007

Sky Air World to get passengers to their destination 35% faster,

with Australia’s first 48 seater Embraer ERJ-145s.

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA.

In a first for Australia, Sky Air World has signed lease agreements for a pair of 48 Seat Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft as well as securing its second Embraer E-190 for delivery in 2008.

“The Embraer ERJ-145 has never been seen before in Australia. It brings a new dimension to aviation here. It’s a 48-50 seat jet aircraft capable of operating from most of the same locations as similar capacity turbo-prop aircraft. The difference is the Embraer ERJ-145 offers a passenger service that’s more than 35% faster, is quieter and more comfortable,” said Sky Air World CEO, David Charlton.

Launching services in May 2007, Sky Air World was the first to operate the Embraer E-170 in Australia.

“The ERJ-145 is a brilliant aircraft and it sets the standard in its class in terms of safety, reliability and comfort. The Embraer regional jet family is a fantastic addition to the Australian marketplace,” said Charlton.

The addition of four new aircraft in 2008 is part of Sky Air World’s long-term plan to grow its Embraer fleet. More than 1,000 ERJ-145 aircraft have been delivered worldwide and are flying with more than 40 countries.

“Our aim is to operate six Embraer E-Jets and 4 Embraer ERJ-145s within four years. We’ll be providing support to airlines, government, as well as the resource and tourism sectors. We’re Brisbane based, but geared to operate throughout Australia, the Pacific and Asia,” said Charlton.

Sky Air World leases its aircraft from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS).

“Sky Air World has worked closely with GECAS to bring these aircraft to Australia. The support they’ve provided has been outstanding. We could not have done it without them.” said Charlton.

Sky Air World is an Australian company with 43 employees and a base at Brisbane Airport. With the arrival of the additional aircraft in 2008, the company is expected to grow to more than 150 employees.

Sounds like they have big plans! Does anyone know much about the ERJ 145 and their capabilities?

They are currently conducting interviews for their 170/ 190's (applications closed a few weeks ago I think). I guess once they get those sorted they'll look at recruiting for other positions.

I may be opening a can of jellybeans if anyone wants them but after the CRJ-200 for KD didnt work mainly cause they couldnt haul the load what makes you think the 145 will do it?

The 145 / has a smaller cabin than the CRJ-200. Its like a metro but bigger?

Good luck to them if they know what they are doing.

The Oracle

Have SAW successfully thendered for any work? They don't seem to have achieved any FIFO work with the mining community. Their contract RPT service in the Pacific didn't succeed and yet they have announced additional aircraft leases! As they don't seem to have a revenue stream, I wonder how they are funding all this activity....does anyone care to comment?

Hi Skystar,

As a lovely looking little aircraft that E170 is, it unfortunately has nothing to do with Network. I have heard that it is over here for a few months on a contract of some sort, but I have know idea who.

All that new work over on TWY R is intended for the time been to be a shared apron (until at least it becomes an active TWY), so it is rumoured that more jets will be parked there. Hopefuly a few of them would be Networks (not 73's though)

They've just recruited some CC and have been told that flying will be atleast once a month, employed on casual basis.
