interesting that 26 regional jet airports will be screening baggage eff. Dec 01, if 717's were to be replaced with Q400's bag screening would not be required under the current regs, and no would pax screening. can't see the routes in the west being made into Q400 routes...
The Legislation has not changed and if VB take on QF LInk with the Embraer 180 they will have to foot the bill for security and the Link won't.
A signif cost advantage for QF

You sprout (tee-hee!)off re the CRJ and KD. You should consider that the aircraft makes money evrywhere in the world, Oz was no different. You obviously flew the aircraft and have a deep understanding of it's operating economics - not.
I already mentioned that I didn't fit on them, let alone fly them. Sheesh!
I'd suggest you have another look at what I posted & see if you can figure out what I was really saying. If you're having trouble, get back to me & I'll explain it further.

If I am wrong, I will eat crew meals for 1 week.

not entirely correct - if I recall correctly.
If the link have their flights scheduled in proximity (an hour or 2 either side cant remember) I think they need to screen - so no cost advantage
I may be wrong, but I think the above is the case

Good onya Q'link!!
Good onya Q'link!!

Bwaaaaah ha ha ha haaaaaa! That aeroplane looks like a giant dogs dick with wings.
Top marks to the knob that came up with that one. Bwaaaaaah hahaha ha haaaa.
That should make every man and his dog want to fly Qlink.
Now all they need is a giant vagina to park it in. Bwaaaaah hahahahah hahahah ha!! Nice one.

Have a sense of humor guys.
While breast cancer awareness is a very important cause it does look like a rather large dogs donger!!

G'day CAPT Basil Brush,
THere is a bit of a swing at the regional airports with regard to who is the screening authority. DOTARS funding is specifically for the airports which means regardless of who does the screening, the airport will ultimately retain ownership of the equipment. Some airports are moving away from the airlines being the authority to doing it themselves. I know of one airport that was left high and dry when QF pulled out and took it's equipment away, which of course was their right.
Hypothetically, if VB wanted access to a port previously unserviced by them, they would have two options. Either become the screening authority and provide the necessary equipment for pax screening or, have the costs passed onto them in landing or handling fees. Either way, the costs WILL be recovered unless there is a very benevolent airport owner / operator. Most regional airports operated by shire councils simply do not fall into that category.
I haven't done the math but would be interested to know how much per outgoing pax the ticket price would have to increase to cover security at a regional airport.

well frog-less it looks like we may have been correct in 'keeping the fact in the rumour'!
MUNT, I thought the Gillette advertising was fairly appropriate considering the amount of Brasilians they are getting.
