Qf BNE LAME cleanout

Heard from a friend up there that M and the local Manager have opened an EOI for redundancies.

Possibly a cleanout, the likes of MEL.

And who is going to replace the gone souls - AMEs, of course. Immediate savings, like MEL.

Again, the issue of quality was never entered.

Any thoughts, especially from the coal face.

Was always going to happen,

In BNE there are those who stand by their mates and their are those who will screw them to get one step further ahead towards self satisfaction in where they want there careers to head. ie MT and RL re Perth.

Unfortunatly, the change willl happen one way or another,

The Seniors and DMM's, who value the lames on their crew, who will stand up for their lames, who will be just and fair...
Once there were many, now there are some, tomorrow there will be none.

Good luck to all that apply

A lot of valuable experiance will be lost, a lot of wisdom will be lost, a lot of honest people who it was a pleasure to work with, and learn from, will be lost .

Dont blame GH, he has always, honestly, said that he has a job to do, and will do it.

Glad I left, for me ......Splash

Trampled in the rush

G'day All
I believe the VR in BNE will be oversubscribed, everyone has had a gutfull of M and the current QF/ACS mis-management style.
Good Luck to all who go. Their gain is QF's loss.

These schemes always rely on the assumption that there will always be an oversupply of labor.

This is a dangerous assumption.

Angry M

Recently noticed some interesting badges being worn around the traps

L. ifes

A. bout

M. urray's

E. go

and his bonus of course!

Good luck supervising the AME's they take on, it basically means you get F all done yourself during a shift. So where is the gain other than on paper for the beanies to admire.

Just recently handed my resignation in with QF..Thought i would be a lifer and this was the job that all aircraft engineers in Aus would aspire to be in....ha ha ha...no job satisfaction, morale fantastic, shifts suck, way too top heavy...could go on and on, but hey im leaving, keep having to remind myself about not getting concerned...
But QF has truly been a dissapointment..
Funny thing is when talking to HR about leaving, told me if im not happy where i am they would give me a SNR LAME position in BNE heavy tomorrow...
Jobs galore just got to be willing and able to relocate...

Can we have one too please?

Just a note to BNE Line LAMES. If redundancy is forced on you and you want to stay at QF, there is a shedload of blokes at H3 Heavy Maint that will happily swap their position for your redundancy payout...please, please consider!

Why not take the money and walk across to Hangar 3. Work as a contractor via ALG as posted above. $35 per hour as a Ame thats more than a level 7 Lame. Carefactor zero, come and go as you like. More seem to "go" than "come" better conditions and pay elsewhere. What ever you do don't become a permanent, you will be imprisoned. No internal job applications will be successfully out of Bne H3 from now on "its detrimental to the Buzzness", in Kiwi talk.

You really have to ask yourself who is running this company. We have sat through the 'you've have to be mental' not to accept this deal, now as South-East Queensland, THE AVIATION CAPITAL looks like growing more and more QF Brisbane wants to restrict it's size and outgoings. Unlike Jetcare, JHAS, Aviation Australia, VirginTech who all appear to riding the big bang theory BNE ACS with an arsenal of equipment, infrastructure and labour assets decide it's best to tighten the belt. Who is looking at the decision MH and DC are making.

A simple formula in business to increase profits is to grow the revenue base. Increase your revenues, expand the business. From Costello to Harvey Norman every successful business has a growth strategy. While brothers at H3 are walking out the door every week, and a five year void hangs over there heads after the 767 are finished there term, at Int the word is the boss can't make a dollar from the customer airlines, ain't it odd how Cathay and AMSA can? What is even more amusing is how the small third party operators get the contracts and then they borrow equipment from QF International....Who is watching this amusement park? Then at the Dom our available maintenance time and manpower is getting strained while the aircraft get older and guess what MH wants a round of VR.

It's not new to those of us who have been around 30+ years have seen this seven year cycle. However it appears this will contract the Brisbane business unit beyond repair. Many good engineers have put there hands up totally let down by a management who wants nothing to do with growth, no plans to walk into the new period of regulation with experienced and knowledgeable engineers and no trust or value of their workers. Lighthouse want a cheap roster with little or no penalties and while engineers are tightening bolts at 2am and pushing back aircraft in storms and rain the bean counters are fast asleep.
Which reminds me of something said once but a great LAME!!

"We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent repairing something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very security I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a screw-driver and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!"

With GH having served one year in Brisbane it wouldn't surprise many if in another year he pulls up stumps and heads back to Sydney, job well down.

Costs reduced, third party operators installed, community and social responsibilities curtailed!

Well Said!!!!

If ever any management has confirmed their complete ineptness, it couldn't have been as conclusive as the continued destruction of Qf E&M by DC and his merry crew.
MH has always had one thing in mind, save costs, hit the perceived high cost items - get rid of LAMEs!
His evidenced business awareness and care factor is zero!
Another bonus driven manager!
Finally fleet managers are starting to ask questions towards those who know!!!!!
God help QF Engineering!

Maybe you should have put it "God Save Qantas Engineering, because nothing will save the GGMs of QE and ACS" (courtesy of Gough)

The Australian Government has finally woken up to a skills shortage in Aviation trades.
When will Qantas?

From the movie:

Jessep: You want answers?

Kaffee (Tom Cruise): I think I'm entitled to them.

Jessep: You want answers?

Kaffee: I want the truth!

Jessep: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.

We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

Kaffee: Did you order the code red?

Jessep: (quietly) I did the job you sent me to do.

Kaffee: Did you order the code red?

Jessep: You're goddamn right I did!!

Seems someone has ordered the "code red" on some of that dead wood at BNE
