The NEW QF airline thread.

Okay, so here's a nice spot to "postulate" about the new QF group airline.

I'm hearing they're going to "lower the bar" further than Jetstar! Who else has some goss???

Is it possible to lower the bar futher? Australia's only "no-star" airline?

Vending machines on board, no seat covers, public urinals - with pay for volume usage ($5 per ml urine, $10per kg turd, $2 surcharge for undigested corn/nuts)

Wonder what the logo will be - a picture of Geoffs Scrotum?

If QF and Virgin for that matter want to lower the bar so to speak, I cannot see how you could possibly accomplish it. Firstly where are you going to get the crews to work for peanuts? Virgin's pay is increasing to some reasonable numbers and so is Jetstars. So who are they going to get to fly them?

How you do also cut things such as airport fees, fuel, maintenance etc etc

I'm no financial guru but I would love to hear how you could possibly do it by flying to the main airports.

busters having a rev up but mate i reckon your right.a inside source told me darth has just bought the ansett name and that will be the new lower than a snakes backside airline.it will be doing sydney to wagga return flights for 10cents and he has a package with a room for the night at his pub.
the only hurdle boys and girls is you all have to clean, load and fuel the aircraft and the pilots are sta bus drivers on holidays.

Buster..Are you serious?

It's not April Buster.

I suppose it's going to be based in Melbourne?

Darth would do anything to complete his domination of Australian and World aviation.Sort of reminds me of Dr Evil but wouldn't this conflict with his second born..... Jokestar.

He did leave his first born (AO) out to dry when Jokestar was working so I suppose he could do the same again and set up 4 tenths star.

Instead of a fuel surcharge the passengers would have to bring their own fuel.
What is your source Buster or is it your sauce....VB or Scotch?

Very serious Lobee...no, its not April & whilst Scotch is my preferred beverage, I haven't partaken of any in many a month.

The what, how, why, when of this are unknown to me...all I have at the moment, is who.

Not sure if QF are serious about it, but Virgin have mentioned starting a Ultra Low Cost Carrier. Buggered if I know how.

When they start advertising for pilots and "no experience necessary", then (a) we've hit bottom & (b) I might get a flying job!!

Wasn't there a story about Darth wanting to start up some sort of flying school to provide pilots over the next ten years?

Well, here we go.To lower the operating costs more than a street stall in downtown Delhi.

The pilots will all be students as Buster said. The cabin crew will be paying to do their on the job flying as well.

Both groups will have advertising on their uniforms.

You will see TV advertising like Darth Air uses Mobil as their preferred fuel.

The same person who takes the reservations will,
Check passengers in.
Fuel and load the aircraft. As a result of this check in will be 12 hours before departure.

The aircraft will be leased from an aircraft manufacturer in the ex soviet block somewhere and be cheaper than a 30 year old malvern star bike.

If the aircraft are diverted anywhere because of technical faults or weather the pax will be required to pay for all costs including repairs, airport charges, hotels etc...

There will also be a board surcharge which pays for the cots of the airline board and it's bonus'

I knew Darth could never come up with anything original.

Better delete that part of your post though.

Darth probably doesn't know that there are manul pumps and if he reads it he'll make all refuellers use a hand pump to save money.

Word about my bosses office is something similar to Busters gen… this is the same office that brought you the TEAL 320 gen before it happened so I would not be surprised.

Basically a new entity, freight, inline with linfox/Startrack as distribution, spinoff as per APA plans and sell. Atlas stay until the first lot of OJ?’s become –438BCF not all airframes will be suitable (is the rumor).

Why??? (did the turd floor, not once say there’s no money in freight), several reasons,
1) Capacity crunch in other areas where it is more profitable for CX/SQ/CV/MP to send aircraft on other routes other than little old oz? (nah really)
2) Who wants a 89-91 model –400 (anyone anyone, bueller….) better question who wants a –400F/SF/BCF.. whatever…. Like hens teeth right now!
3) Persistent rumors the Dugong when delivered to mainline will have some performance limits re cargo capacity ex-US west coast (there may be something there). Just like the 400s on a hot west coast day during school holidays!

So several reason why it may be an idea, replace atlas? Maybe but it will have to do with 5th freedoms ex-china, More likely its down to capacity growth.

BTW QF has applied for all cargo capacity to the UAE (ref IASC)……. Anyone anyone…

Question

Anything to do with this?

The airline's freight operations are also set to be separated, with negotiations currently under way with partner Australia Post on jointly owned assets such as Australian Air Express.

But Mr Dixon said the fleet operation would probably be the first to be spun off "because it is more compact".
