It's called "astroturfing" - a fake grassroots website populated by fakes. Qantas must be getting desperate.

Hmmm....i wonder!

I wonder if it is something suspicious. Its those suspicious people who leave unattended baggage at airports. Or those who have more than 100ml liquids in their bags.

Did anyone stop to think that it could be those "normal" people who start forums, just like this one to discuss that little thing called aviation.

Some things never cease to amaze me...

Qfbuzz looks to me to be a trap.

What are you going to do Hommie? Hit me with your handbag?

Question

The QF Chief Pilot's brother lives in Brisbane and has a business designing web sites. I wonder if there is a connection with 2media Pty Ltd and QFBUZZ.com?

If only i had a handbag to hit you with.

I am just saying, that given most of you do not have access to this trap you all seem to be jumping to an almighty conclusion.

I wonder of there is any significance in the kangaroo used in the logo as it's not the traditional Qantas Kangaroo but rather that of an extinct domestic airline that was based in Melbourne?

Sticky, reading Corporate PR has been likened to drowning in Maple Syrup. Here are some quotes from the website from various posters whose affiliations are unknown.

Good News. It is nice to see China expansion.
I see jetstar as a big plus in some ways... esp star class with QF biz SC
I just saw everything from the SMH ad on a television campaign.
Looks pretty good.
Wow, what can I say, this is the best QF news I've heard in ages! Good to see PVG being increased to 5 x weekly. Same with an additional SYD-JNB & SYD-LAX flight. It'll be great to see them fly to Santiago, let alone direct.

BNE-LAX daily, My God, what can I say! YAHOOOOO! The best BNE news I've heard in sooooo long! I honestly never expected them to make that announcement. A daily service we've waited a long time for. Will be great for passengers travelling to and from Queensland to the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Although all these additional services are a way off, it's great to see Qantas finally making some improvements. Lets hope for many more to come!
Jetstar took to the skies three years ago this week, and a survey released today highlights that almost 3 out of 4 Australians believe Jetstar, the every day low fares airline, has had a positive effect on airfares.
Well the topic says it all, QF have introduced bacon and egg muffins for breakfast on SYD-BNE flights, including weekend flights. SYD-MEL still has cereal which makes me wonder if this is just a trial, like hot dinners were trialled on BNE flights before a wider introduction.

I have had the muffins on both 737 and 767 services. They are very tasty and come with a muesli bar, bottle of mystery juice and a bag of pre cut apple as well as the cup for tea and coffee on a half tray.

Sounds great hobbes. Thankyou for posting this.

What they're offering sure beats the plain-old continental breakfast that we all seem to get over and over again

Here's hoping it becomes available on most domestic flights!

I was just wondering if anyone else is noticing the recent increase in customer service being offered by QF? Nothing seems to be too much trouble lately pretty much without exception.
  • QF Valet in Sydney washed my car for free
  • Check in staff in BNE keep putting me on earlier flights on red-e fares without having to ask
  • QF Club in MEL called every PAX in the J cabin to do a seating change on a full flight so my wife and I could be seated together
  • The oxygen mask fell from the ceiling on a recent flight in my row, so the CSM offered for me to move to a spare seat in J
  • Crew are using my name on boarding at the gate and at the boarding pass check on the plane
Qantas 767-300 VH-OGL

This aircraft has had some striking new decals applied to it all part of Qantas's support/sponsorship with the Wallabies Rugby team.

Sounds nice as! Hope theres some photos out soon!

(and guess what? In the next comment there were the photos!)

Followed by:

It's great to see Qantas do up a special colour scheme for the Wallabies.

And talking of Tiger Airways.....

Just want to know what you think. I personally don't like the idea of a third airline just at the moment, especially seeing as though both the current Australia Domestic carriers are "profitable". I mean just have a look at the shambles they call the US aviation market, just to see how bad it could get if Aus sees to many competitors?

(followed by)

Domestic traffic within Australia is almost at capacity, and while there will be room for a few more flights, something will have to budge, and the outcome will not be pretty.

Folks, this is astroturf. (and not very good astroturf)

When a corporation wants to oppose environmental regulations, or support an environmentally damaging development, it may do so openly and in its own name. But it is far more effective to have a group of citizens or experts -- and preferably a coalition of such groups -- which can publicly promote the outcomes desired by the corporation while claiming to represent the public interest. When such groups do not already exist, the modern corporation can pay a public relations firm to create them.

The more I read on the site as YT clearly highlights .. is so blatant .. it is nauseating.

A lame attempt to muster support. But who are they targetting? Perhaps the silent 'positive' voice.

Puke.
