Rex Profit Soars

I see today REX released excellent third quater results. Much higher than previously forecast.
Huntly's recommendation before the new results was a share value of $3.05.
It will be interesting to see the growth now!!

Maybe they might take a fistful of that filthy lucre and lash out on a van to drive the crews (and their bags) from the carpark to the terminal and back.

That tends to happen when you pay your staff F%$K ALL!!!!!

Lets see how their share price looks in 6 months time when they are screaming for pilots and have their fancy new B+ models parked along a fence!!!

I hear they are losing around 40-60 pilots in the next 6 months, can anyone confirm this!!!!

Nah, it's all about intimidating us and treating us like the working dogs they think we are. They don't even think think we are entitled to a place to park our work transport.

Sure the share price goes up when you draw blood from employees.

War Chest

Hopefully, management will put some of that profit aside as a fighting fund to retain staff. With every airline employing in large numbers, they will lose a lot of valuable trained staff if they don't improve salaries and T & C's.

wethereyet,

Don't let it sink to racist remarks mate.

We all know that some things are done differently in Singapore, but you only do yourself an injustice.

The Kavorka is right, and it blows me away that these experts (Huntlys) can forcast a 50% rise in the share price and yet be seemingly oblivious to a looming disaster.

Make no mistake, Virgin, Jetstar, Cathay, etc, etc, etc,....... will, to quote a senior domestic airline executive, "Rip the guts out of REX".

The only alternative is to make REX and the other second level operators a viable alternative to the major airlines by setting a new benchmark for pay and conditions.

If this does not occur soon, It will not be a question of IF, but WHEN, will REX have to park aircraft due to lack of crews.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the share price then!

Could VB be looking at a joint venture here?

We keep on saying: Where are VB going to get those 100+ first officer crews for these Ejets in the future? Could VB be contemplating a joint venture with REX to slove these 2 airlines short sighteness with regards to crewing . Gee, what could this possibly mean for the newbees IF THIS WAS TO TRANSPIRE

DofC, would be surprised if that was to happen. Me thinks the wounds of the CRJ days might still be open and not sure if current management would be up for taking orders from a major again......Kendell-Ansett???

Management still dont get it, guys and girls are leaving in droves and they still dont want to do anything about it.

Not sure about parking aircraft but forget about expansion, and thats when the E-Jets start going ,and when the public see a shiny red jet pull up at albury, wagga,pt lincoln etc, and they have to get on to a twenty year old Saab with smelly sheepskin seat covers and no overhead lockers.......who they going to fly with next time!!!

Just waiting for the singaporian to dump the lot when the share price gets up high enough for him.........then its women and children first

Capt Avail

Well said, there is no doubt in my mind that when the share price is high enough, the crook from Sing will sell....

Expansion plans onto QLD are shelved for sure, the "NEW" B+ a/c won't compete against a shiny new jet if fares a comparable..

Good times for REX now, dark times to follow..NO DOUBT!!!!

Like i've said before..get out now before it's too late!!!

DJ will operate the E-jets to Wagga, Albury, Dubbo and Tamworth, why. becuase Q'link also operate into these ports. REX will be the loser. The E-Jets will must likely replace the 737s to Coffs and Ballina with an increase in frequency.

Shapeshifter,

you are absolutely right.

If it were viable to run jets on these routes with the required frequency it would have been done years ago.

whogivesa????

Interesting theory, but I still don't buy it. My understanding is that the EJ will be employed on the thin mainline routes. A bit academic though, because if DJ management don't reavaluate their attitude to their workforce, they will have a snowball's chance in hell of crewing the thing!

As for the REX sell-off, now there's an interesting question, namely who will buy it?

Virgin? Certainly wouldn't solve their pilot shortage. At the moment they would have no hesitation in poaching REX pilots, but if they owned the business, more questions than answers? They already have a commercial arrangement with check thru baggage, so what would be the point.

Qantas? Doubtful, I could see all sorts of regulatory problems, not to mention fleet dissimilarities etc..

Tiger? mmmm.. Singarporean connection, but they would still have to run with the operation, regardless of what they think they may gain RE: slots, AOC entitlements etc...

one thing is for sure, they will have to have relatively deep pockets. The airline is strong financially, but to keep it that way into the near to medium term may require some real additional investment, not only in material, but in their greatest resource, their people!

Heard the other day that Port Macquarie will be getting a new (main) runway to handle the Q400's and E-Jets. It will be built on the western side of the current 03/21 runway, around 150m longer and the old runway will be turned into a parrallel taxiway. Work should begin around May next year.

The future will certainly be interesting....
