Qantas jobs at Brisbane heavy maintenance
Hi, i saw an ad in the australian for Qantas jobs at brisbane heavy maintenance, working on their 767's. Can anyone here help with some independant information on these jobs?
What is the base pay for AME's?
What shifts do they work?
Is it a good place to work?
How often do they run type training?
Whats the career progression opportunities?
thanks for your help.

I second the above post! Mate, ask yourself... why have over 50 people resigned from the facility over the last 30 months? ..... for some reason, the "above post" was removed. Strange.

Qfcainer,
You are 100% correct, but hide the Qantas maintainance heading and it could be any work place in Aussie.
Ive seen it many a time and can pick a new worker who doesnt want to work but be a boss of some type ,and yes ,they bull**** their way and suffer a bit of hairloss from their head banging under the bosses desk.
The part that facinates me is that the exprienced management cant see through them, and give a guy who does his work etc without a word.A lot of these are happy doing just that and have never given it a thought of a higher position

B744 arrived at Bne HM yesterday for a super A check. Using available excess capacity caused by management not having the tooling in place for A330 Heavy maintenance - currently sending them to Manila. They are hoping to get a contract for A330 MRTT modifications and ongoing maintenance support starting at the end of the year. The jobs being advertised are probably for the planned A330 work. Shame about the wages and conditions.

Thanks all for the responses, it has given me some food for thought. maybe GA isnt so bad after all! hey qfcainer, is that really true that they have AMEs licensed on the 767? That seems a bit odd, because the ad said they wanted mecahnical LAMEs too. why wouldnt they just make the AMEs into LAMEs?

Qantas have just informed their staff via their eba newsletter that the "average heavy maintenance Lame earns 105k per annum.
Take into account that the lame at Brisbane H/m is on a shift allowance average of 7.5% means the base rate must be close to 100k average.
(and the average lame in acs earns 135k).
Why wouldn't you apply for a job there?
How much was on on the job advertisment?
