Has Thai started flying the 777 ER yet out of BN yet?

Any feedback on the JAL - Cairns Japan LHR routing - also appreciated (driving north to CS rather than flying south to BN is closer to the kennels for BD junior!)

Do you get a free hotel night in Japan outbound?

Over the last month I've done LHR-SIN-SYD and PER-SIN-LHR with Qantas and I have to say they were excellent. Great entertainment system, great food, decent leg room and friendly staff. Have flown with many international carriers and QF are up there with VS, BA, CX, SQ etc.

Per-sin

Have flown regularly on this route up to five times a month over the last five years with QF and I must say that initially things were a bit grim in economy when they were using the 767. On the change to the 330 there was a remarkable change and most flights were pleasant. I think airline of choice when travelling economy is a bit of a crap shoot with regards to service and selection for me is solely based on timings and connections. CX and SQ have, in my belief, better overall standards in economy but flight schedules dictate my bookings.

Got a good deal with JAL not so long back - flew a 777 on a delivery flight on one leg and newish 74 on the other - very nice, everything worked. Crew were pleasant and non-threatening, food edible, free night's accommodation, always on-time - but really these 'differences' in service and seating they talk about here are all so minor you might as well just get the cheapest, fastest most reliable you can find . I'd fly JAL again if they were still the cheapest, which they were not last time I looked. (Virgin)

Flew Malaysian to Rome n back recently in economy & I found it most underwhelming. Crew were surly, food was ordinary, seat pitch was ok but width marginal...(yes, Miles' backside is miles wide...), all flights delayed by at least 30 mins with no explanatory pa's. At least the service was uninterrupted by that pesky seat belt sign..."yes sir it's ok to go to the bathroom with the seat belt sign on, just watch you're step!"
Better say something good....very good I.F.E., fare was the cheapest going at the time.
Cheers,
Miles
