The more I read of the information coming out of Europe this week, the more I think the White Elephant tag is attaching itself to this aircraft.
The economics just dont seem to add up - Airbus seems to be in a hole, even with billions of taxpayers dollars cushioning the ride.
I wonder if QF have an exit strategy, or a cushioning clause of their own in the contract? Or SIA for that matter.

Nunc est bibendum
****su, the rumour mill at work suggests that every single one of QF's 'get out' clauses has been met. Apparently we can walk away! Many of us are hoping that we do and put in a massive order for B747-8s and 777s.

This is a beat up by Boeing yet again. They will do anything they can to discredit the A380 cos they know if it is a success, then it is going to take a big bite out of there market share. It was the FAA that first came up with the 10 NM Wake turbulence standard as an interim measure. All impartial reports so far have been that since the wing design is very clean, the A380 should need less distance behind it due wake turbulence than a 747 not more.
There will be bugs, and delays, but when it is in service, I think we all really know that the A380 is going to succeed and all major airlines will buy them. As an ATC'er in the Middle East with more and more congestion in our skies causing more and more delays every day, I really hope it succeeds, cos that seems to be the only way we may be able to stay on top of the game.

Quite a bit of 'For & Against' the A380 here:

Personally I agree with one of the previous posters, I too think the A380 is a dead duck.
