Where to for the others?

Kransky makes a very good point.

My question though is where are the remaining 6 717s going? Does anybody reckon JetConnect has a look in??? 9 737s to be replaced by JQ 320s across the ditch and 6 717 for domestic runs. Seems to make sense... although that is complete and utter conjecture on my part.

Anyone in the know???

Cunning,

Still on those bitter-and-twisted pills, I see. You really should try Bex.

Actually, some B734's will be transferred from QF mainline to Jet Connect to replace the B733's that are being converted to freighters. More B738's are being ordered to maintain Mainline B737 fleet at 51 aircraft.

Gerry leased 8 B717's for Impulse on 5 year leases (now renewed for another 5 years) and when QF bought them they found that they could operate 6 more aircraft with no increase in spares and engineering cost so they obtained 6 more on the same 5 year leases. If QF have no requirement for these aircraft then they will simply be returned when the leases are up (soon).

I hope you're not in the property market wallaby.

Why should NZ get the 717s? Methinks NJS would have to be in a strong posn to get them. After all, at least NJS has them on an AOC and have a training system in place. I dont see the cost savings to Qantas in giving them to NZ.

Ps

Cunning, relax. It is good to see you have so much love for your previous company. Spend some time spreading the rot about your current employer please and leave mine alone.

Good news is, both NXB and NXI are now serviceable and flying well (so far). All link services tomorrow should be per normal.

NXI 8 hours late leaving DRW for GOV & CNS 05May. It's just never ending.
No wonder NT Govt has told staff not to take 1945 to ASP but get the mainline flight the day before and stay overnight in a hotel.

Though the B717 would no doubt do well in NZ, the start up cost would preclude them going over.

Remember that QF use AirNZ for engineering, so QF would need to set up their own or alternatively pay hefty amounts to AirNZ to both train the engineers and carry a spares compliment.

I don't imagine you would see the return on investment fast enough to make them worthwhile...

I thought it was mentioned a while back that the rest of the 717's would be going to Perth to replace all 737 flying within W.A. That is, instead of having 2 x 146 (Qlink) and 2 x 737 (Mainline) flights a day there would be just 4 x 717 flights a day to places like PPD, PKA, BRM etc

Miss Behaviour,

Obviously the Gummint hasn't told the Chief Minister, who was on my 717 service last night from ASP-DRW.

She didn't think my landing was too good though.

Cunning, that might have been the smartest anyone has said yet in this thread.

Little companies deal with competitors. Big companies control competitors.

Lets say you are QF and you don't really need a low-ish cost regional carrier thats been around since the nineties... you have a super-low cost carrier now.

What would you do?

Cunn,

Just who do you work for?

I have held commands in my time, thankyou.

I can wait. I know not to model myself on your example though. You must be wonderful to sit next to for hours on end.

I agree with you Rescue1.

[Sound of penny dropping] Aha!

I take back what I said about being smart.

If that is who you are CL, what is the point of rubbishing NJS in whatever they do?

Maybe you'd like to see them out of high cap RPT. Big deal. All the people that worked alongside you will lose their jobs. All the people that 'did you wrong' will keep theirs, maybe get a bonus.

Nice one.

Are you sure you've got your pollies in order? Fay Miller, deputy leader of the opposition is sporting a neck brace, after a motor accident but Capt Clare isn't.

Capt Clare BTW is leader of the gummint, not a member of the opposition.

What's your prediction then? Not for at least 6 years, possibly 10, would be my guess, before the CLP could possibly regain power.
